Sounds awesome!

To our knowledge there hasn't been any testing done this way. We wanted to test this for you guys but ended up having some downtime with the Dyno due to rearranging the shop and us getting rid of the CVT car. We would like to get this done for you guys on our Si, though. If anyone has done testing, feel free to post your findings!
So we can get the frontpipe without the downpipe and be fine for CEL right? now Im curious how just the front pipe would change the sound

Just experiment with different defoulers. The 90 degree one included with the RV6 pipe has kept my cel off for hundreds of miles and 2 trips to the track.

yeah, Ive thought about. I have ktuner as well and here in Texas I can get away with one sensor marked as "not ready" Always passed my 8th gen with race header.

i put the stock O2 sensor onto the PRL DP after i installed both pipes, no defouler, and I've gone a couple hundred miles without the CEL coming on at all.

That's weird, good but weird.... I know I've heard the catted version even through a CEL, guess maybe I've never read of somebody having it pop with the catless... I got lucky like that on my bimmer, went catless and expected to have to spend 60 more at emission time for the "dpfix" simulator but ended up not having a problem.

I took the car to a garage to get it on a lift... The front pipe looks too long for the vehicle: The flex portion is very compressed, and the hanger is not laying straight. The sound I have appears to be coming from the flex pipe vibrating against the underside of the pan, because the textured heatshield above the pipe is firmly secured.

Mine threw a CEL after 100+ miles when i was using a 90 degree defouler. so i shortened it and its just on straight with no angle, that setup im currently on now is 500+ miles with no CEL. it seems though that @IronFusion is using no defouler and is have no problems so far.

that is, in fact, the prl catted combo. I did not use a defouler, and have yet to have a cel thrown after a couple hundred miles. While on the phone with an engineer or specialist (idk for sure) about my grinding metal sound, they said a surprising number of end users have reported the same success without a defouler or additional modifications. I'd like to think it is because of my choice of gas, additives, and catch can.

We didn't have much luck keeping CELs off catted or catless, however, we do have a PA car, which is emissions-sensitive like CA cars...

(I just sent Spencer a follow-up email) I was able to basically re-work the install of the DP to allow the brackets to fit like they did from the factory. I can confirm that my issue was not due to a loose or bent heatshield- it was in fact the tight clearance of the front pipe under the engine that caused metal on metal grinding and vibrations when the engine lifts after applying throttle from a standstill.
Now, my front pipe has a bit more room to move, though the flex portion is still very compressed, and I was able to somehow shift the pipes such that the hanger isn't pulled as badly down and forward as it had been. No more bad sounds, and still no CEL after a few more hundred miles! Thanks for your customer support!

Does just the mid pipe fit the Hatchback? The sedan and HB are 2 different part numbers from honda for that pipe.....

I am interested why you (and others) are seeking (I am assuming) just the front pipe. Mostly because I am not aware that anyone has put a car with the just the front pipe swapped on a dyno. If you are concerned about CELs with the downpipe, you may considered contacting PRL and asking what the they know about the rates of occurrence. I for one, have driven hundreds of miles at varying speeds in in different conditions and have yet to receive a CEL. I may be super lucky, but when I was in contact with them after my initial install caused horrific sounds, they indicated that they received feedback from others that no CEL showed. I suspect that the catted version may be more tolerant to throwing CELs than they had admitted; they also told me, that although they are in PA, the test bed car they ran was a California model. Could be that had something to do with their acknowledgement that they could not guarantee no CELs even with their additional revisions to the catted DP.

I can chime in that while I'm not running PRLs product I am catless and probably 1k miles almost, nothing but a defouler and I have never seen a CEL. Been in stop and go and been wide open 13-14 seconds at a time for a few hours.
