Hi All,

Is there a way that the RDM be turned off permanently? When I turn it off through the rocker switch on the steering wheel, next time I start the car it re-engages.

I dont have a type r but for the other full digital dash models you use the right scroll wheel to "safety and support" (or something similar) and uncheck the box next to it. I've never had it come back on in 4000 miles since I turned it off even with all the reflashes and hard resets my car saw 2k miles ago.

Go to Vehicle settings on the touch screen, you can permanently disable it from there.

Thanks AspecR. I tried that but wondering if I’m in the wrong place. When I go into the settings all I can do is change to Early, Normal,or Delayed, but nothing to totally turn it off.

Do you have LKAS on or off? It's not 100% clear if RDMS stays off if LKAS is turned on, take a look at the manual pgs 639-642.

It does say: "The Road Departure Mitigation system is in the previously selected on (checked) or off (unchecked) setting each time you start the engine."

So it *should* be staying off for you but I think you need LKAS off too. It's pouring here or I'd go poke at it.

I wish they'd let you keep CMBS (braking) turned off on restart but it's specifically called out as a system that automatically turns on. At least it seems less touchy than I prior car I've driven with it that was frankly dangerous in actual city traffic.

This worked for me as well. Turned it off after a few days of ownership and haven't had to deal with it since. Also if I do turn LKAS on it works fine as well

So, it turns out according to the manual, that in the Australian and New Zealand models, that it turns on automatically when you start the engine. Regardless of whether it was on or off previously, it will be on when you start.

Ah, that explains it then - bummer. Is it super annoying? I turned all that safety junk off on my first drive.

Same for the UK.

For around town it’s not really an issue, just need to be aware to turn it off on the open road.
