They also keep the same offset. Yes more aggressive offset looks better but also increases torque steer. There's 18" wheels with near stock offset but unaware of any 19" offerings other than factory forged.

I am very happy with the FL5R right out of the box, except for the black wheels. Never been a fan of black wheels on any car. I am not an auto engineer, I left that up to Honda. Most of the reason I didn't change the stance, or size and offsets.
The other thing that I don't like is the lane assist. (Old school I guess)
Before I purchased this car, I seriously shopped. I checked some nice very expensive cars, and this car had the best engineering, developments, and the funnest to drive. Very special car.
Congratulations to all 11th Gen type r owners, you made a good decision.

Wasn't me, I do plan on C&C at Zakira's garage, and one in Nky in April
I might have to check that C&C out in April. My son and I are going to Classic Honda at Tail of the Dragon in Oct. so we're looking forward to that.

I've only seen one other FL5 running around Cincy so far, but apparently there are at least 2 BB in town, you and the guy who flashed his lights at me in Fairfield the other night.

I have seen a white near that area and a BB.
Have you seen a DE5?

I own a CW FL5. I've seen one DE5 rolling down the I-275 loop after work one day. I not seen any GR Corollas in town yet.
If it's gray it's mine.

If anyone thinks $600 is high, my dealer wanted $3,634 (installed) for the set.

College Hills Honda and Costco, here I come.

The OEM accessory wheel is a solid option. It's offered at a reasonable price point, looks decent, ~20% weight savings over the stock wheel, stock offset, and it's OEM. It's an OEM wheel manufactured by (or for) Honda, not sure what more you expect. Besides, if you get into ultra lightweight wheels the barrier to entry is high and most on this forum are not willing to pay.

The forged wheels would be both a visual and mechanical upgrade in my book. I don't mind the stock black wheels, I think they look pretty nice, but reducing the unsprung weight is a nice elegant method of making legit efficiency gains without touching the powertrain. It's like in audio where to gain 3dB you can either 2x the poweramp wattage or just get a speaker that has 3dB more sensitivity. I'm also in the same boat, I'm not an auto engineer so I would rather not mess with offsets, widths, diameters. I just spent a bunch of money on PPF and ceramic, so I'm not in the mood for a set of $2500 wheels at the moment, but one day I'll be putting on these forged wheels as well.

IMO there is a point of diminishing returns with wheels that is dependent on use case. If you're not going to track the car or push the car to a high degree then a flow-formed wheel is perfectly acceptable for a balance of strength and value. Having a forged wheel for weight savings or unsprung mass for only daily driving is overkill IMO. I will admit they do look nice and have "street cred" but I wouldn't use spec-sheet numbers as a justification.

I personally enjoy the styling of the OEM forged wheels, but the fact that they are forged and lighter are secondary to my use case.

That is a big contributing factor to your opinion, "you enjoy the black OEM wheels", and that is my main reason I switched wheels, I flat out don't like the OEM black wheels. I luv everything about this car, but the wheels.
I truly believe there is a bit of "Honda Marketing" involved with offering the car with the boring matte black finish wheels. Gives opportunity to upsell accessories.
Respectfully.

I saw a tiger eye DE5 in the Kenwood area. Not my personal style, but I was surprisingly impressed with the color in person. I've also mulled the forged wheels on my CW, but am hoping to see more pics before I decide whether the cost is worth it to me. Can't wait to see pics here.

I have seen a white near that area and a BB.
Have you seen a DE5?
