Replaced the center console/shift boot, side, and center console trims with some Alcantara from Overland, along with a shift boot collar from Acuity.


Also received and installed my FL5 mustache from JAS. This is my first carbon part and the weight difference from the OE hood vent is significant.

I reached out to them around the time the parts were released and haven't revisited it. How would you characterize the quality of the parts? How was the packaging when received? Also, what did you pay in tariff fees relative to your order total? Any regrets and/or what would you different if you had another crack at it?

Part is solid. There could be something to be said about fitment on the passenger side where it tapers off, but only if you go looking for it. Install was easy (put a blanket over the engine bay just in case you drop a nut).

It was shipped securely. Through FedEx I paid $220 for tariff + brokerage. Customs was a pain, having never had to fill out the forms before.

No regrets. Looks great and was a bit cheaper than the Spoon alternative for a carbon hood vent.

No regrets on my end! Parts came very well packaged and fitment was spot on for me. I did not use the mesh grill on the hood vent though.

to the owners who have that annoying tinny sounding window rattle when the window is down approx where the angled piece meets the sail plastic trim

3 visits to the dealership and they still had no fix for it

so I winged it and worked out the rubber was hitting the metal when window was down at a certain point

I placed a 2mm thick rubber in between the rubber and metal and added some silicone rubber and presto.....ggg

I got it for a really good deal, couldn't pass it up. I'm doing a custom tune anyways even if I had the PRL, so it works out.

The reason that I got the @COBB Tuning intake was because it is CARB compliant, and I wanted more air/power so I also got the Cobb jailbreak and Access port with custom tune by Brian @JST Performance

I am very pleased with both.

the custom tune is still an iterative work in progress, it is taking a long time because I keep forgetting (so good as is) to log and send Brian the logs he needs for the next iteration.

Highly recommended.

some more details here:

The Cobb intake substantially lowers overall intake restriction before the transition to the narrower ORM pipe which enables higher total mass airflow.

Fluid dynamics: For air treated as incompressable at typical intake pressure and velocities, the volume flow rate Q is the same

Q = A1 x v1 = A2 x v2

where A1 is the larger Cobb MAF housing area and A2 the smaller OEM area.

Plain English: the diameter reduction from the larger Cobb MAF housing to the smaller factory turbo inlet pipe increases local air velocity in the narrower downstream section while the larger volume flow rate remains approximately the same through both sections under steady flow conditions.

Also the Cobb velocity stack geometry combined with an integrated straightener grid produces a uniform less turbulent velocity profile at the sensor element. The result is more precise and repeatable mass airflow readings than the stock configuration provides.

The proof is in the pudding.

No dyno, but I can easily break traction in 2nd. 3rd gear pull is awesome too

[Edit] Forgot to mention that the Cobb intake makes both the turbo whoosh on acceleration and the bypass valve discharge psht sound on lift-off noticeably louder than the stock intake, adding to my grin [/Edit]

The first time I came home my wife asked me "what's that silly grin on your face?"

I still come home with a grin on my face, and she still doesn't get it.

Also the gas mileage did not suffer.

Makes me wonder, how does it effect temperature inside of inlet pipe.
My understanding, since COBB has a bigger MAF Housing it forces more air compression inside of factory inlet pipe, as a result, rise in a kinetic energy directly causes air temperature to increase, which can effect turbo energy output
