So currently my Fl5 is stock aside from some new wheels and springs I have on the way. Want to add some power mods like intercooler/charge pipes and exhaust among some other things. Just didn’t know if there was a “hey you should buy this before you buy this” kinda school of thought when it comes to performance mods. Not trying to push any crazy HP just looking for modest gains

First you need to determine your power goals, and what you want from the car.

Hondata Flashpro and a custom tune should be first on your list. After that you should consider an intercooler from a reputable brand, the intercooler reference thread can help you decide.

You actually don't need an intake/inlet pipe right away, and the stock exhaust actually flows well enough to make 500whp, so it is unnecessary as a first performance mod unless you want more sound out of the car.

ahh wow I didn’t know that about the exhaust that’s good to know. Honestly I would be fine with getting anywhere from 360 to 380whp and staying at that for a while.

If you're looking for 360-380. Get yourself an intake, inlet pipe, dp, and intercooler. Pair that with the hondata flash pro, and custom tune. You should be right around those numbers.

Pending your goals and tastes, a resonator delete (I got a dual resonator delete) is a quick and affordable way to give the illusion of more power and add more sound. It cost me $150 and took 35 minutes at the local muffler shop. VERY happy with it, but I do like a louder exhaust (albeit not obnoxious).

Hondata flashpro should always be the first mod when starting a project, most parts do not require a tune but the power for $ there isnt anything else that matches it

PRL intake best bang for buck mod. Then exhaust makes it even better. Our favorite was Apexi exhaust. Both in stock.

An OTS tune from TSP or Phearable will get you in the ballpark with the least amount effort and probably cost. IMO an intake or exhaust are mainly noise-adders and are the least cost-effective HP/$.

Intercooler and piping doesn't really give you more power. it's more to manage heat soak and keep the power consistent when driven hard. Usually for a turbo car turning up the boost with tune will net you a good amount of power for dollar. However once you start adding aftermarket parts then you'll probably have to retune which obviously more money each time. I'm not too sold on intake pipes but a good intake box from youtube shootouts seems like they make power. From my days of other turbo car downpipes don't make a ton of power but what it does more is help the turbo spool sooner and faster. Exhaust seems all pretty much the same and all sound not so great.

I'll chime in with Cobb intake and Cobb AccessPort with an unlimited custom tune by @JST Performance

Cobb intake is fairly unique in that it has larger MAF housing, which allows more air, but requires a tune to go with it.

With more power also consider an RMM to eliminate or minimize wheel hop

If you want to do it in smaller $$$ steps, start with AccessPort with unlimited custom tune, then add the Cobb (or any other) intake and re-tune.

My next mod would be the Cobb intercooler.

Note that I am in CA and must stay CARB compliant, so Cobb was a fairly easy choice for me.
