So I was having issues updating my infotainment system awhile back. I tried both the wireless and USB methods and kept getting an error message. The dealer tried to update it unsuccessfully after I took it in, though the update no longer appears after that visit.

Is the current software version 77CA-0055-121? I swear this is the same version that showed when I took it to the dealer, so I just want to make sure the update actually went through. It didn't appear to, though it's possible it completed during the drive home from the dealer.

I also yanked out my TCU, the only way for me to update is via USB, Honda OTA USB Website was giving server errors for a long while, but seems to work now.

My version is 77CA-0068-121 and the Honda site now says says "No updates are available at this time"

CarPlay kept disconnecting, and most of the time, not reconnecting. I set it up for USB only, I also permanently stopped the Honda navigation app, per recommendation on this forum.

donno if you wanna try to modify that file to see if that fixes it.. i have had 0 luck with that site, but mine is apparently up to date as of may 20th.
Heres what i found -
So i used a different drive and the corrupt file did not have my VIN after the deviceID. But i am getting the connection error with the proper one.. This was failing on a 256GB drive partitioned to only a 30GB Fat32 partition - the rest was empty (no volume made). A 16gb flash drive with no partitions only formatted to FAT32 looks to get the right data.
{"deviceData":{"deviceID": "VIN GOES HERE"

This was with the non-corrupt file

I have nothing to my car except connect to home wifi and search for updates occasionally. Wireless CarPlay works flawlessly.

Filling in the VIN worked - Thanks for that! I'm getting an "No updates" message now.

Edit: I was using a 32GB drive formatted to FAT32 and the VIN data was missing. I'll try to find a 16GB drive next time to see if all the fields get filled in properly.

Well, I guess I'll try to check via the USB site again. How long is it supposed to take to download the vehicle info to the USB? I sat in the car for about 20 minutes and it never said it completed downloading. There was a file on the USB (which had the correct space and formatting), but I wasn't able to upload it. I tried with 2 different drives, same thing.

I did factory reset the infotainment, but that didn't bring the update back.

It should not take more than 30 seconds to get to step 2 as shown in the screen shot below.

BTW, how did you do a factory reset the infotainment?

Yeah I never made it to step 2.

The factory reset is under system settings.

It's really odd that all of us is getting different issues/results for mostly trying to doing the same thing under the same firmware/software version :dunno:
