Will have to use the FK8 SSQV kit since its componenets are on the opposite side of the FL5 kit. I know at least one person that used the FK8 kit on their FL5 before HKS even released a FL5 SSQV kt.Will this Acuity Intake fit with the HKS SSQV?
Thanks! I’m still running this intake and nothing much has changed from previous update. Definitely hope Acuity brings it out at a competitive price point. Otherwise hope people can just get out and make one.My guess...Acuity is using their existing 6" to 3.5" Velocity Stack to smooth intake airflow prior to sensing by the MAF, existing 6" filter, along with a custom housing and piping to reduce potential water ingestion in rain situations.
I really like the intent and design. Reminds me of this other old and awesome thread from @Gambit.
If/when Acuity releases this right side intake, I would hope that they also consider offering a turbo coolant line to relocate the OEM hard pipe that also runs over the turbo area. Similar to the AirTec Motorsports Turbo Radiator but without the radiator itself. Link to the install guide with PICs.
Kill two birds with one stone. Reduce thermal transfer from the turbo assembly to both the intake track as well as the turbo coolant line.
I agree with you I have looked into this and the fl5 application wouldn't fit but the fk8 application will. The fk8 application is on the driverside.My vote is no; I may be wrong, but it appears to be a lot of interference. Modify to fit, maybe, but then it's unnecessarily complex in that corner of the bay. Working on anything in there would be a pain imo.
I am vary curious as to why HKS decided to change the design if it was not necessary to change. I assume other factors play into it. Would be very cool if you could do this to your SEMA build and show us how it is done and what needs to be changed for it to work. I know people have said that they have done it. I wants to add it to build but only color available is silver and I wanted black. I could, but would not based on how rediciusly easy it is to remove the OEM or any aftermarket airbox, leaving you with the same giant hole that exists with the latter. In addition, you have to add additional bracing and support over the turbo as well. Too each their own. Because then you can't sell the customer an inlet pipe.I wrote this over on the other thread, but this has been on my mind for days now and I can't figure why this idea of foregoing the inlet pipe wasn't tried before. It's such a simple idea to flip the airbox location. I'm in love with this thing lol
Fair enough lol, the inlet pipes on this platform can get disgustingly expensive for a tubeBecause then you can't sell the customer an inlet pipe.
Also, there's a lot less space to work with.
