I've searched through the forums and online, and I don't think anyone has made splash guards for the FL5 yet. I'm hoping someone can prove me wrong. I just added spacers, and it would be nice to add a bit more protection because of the extra poke.

Sukeban design makes them for like $250/set. Too expensive for me but I'm sure more people will make them in the future

The Sukeban guards are also a little bit adjustable. You can keep them more tucked or you can push them outward so they’re more visible and protective. I think this will work well for your wheels/tires poking out a little bit. They’re not cheap, but they look nice are well thought-out and are well made. I have a set of the faux carbon fiber. I’m waiting to install them after ppf later this month.

For the time being, I added some automotive mesh to the fender vents, inspired by someone else on the forums. Costed around $20.

Where can I get this mesh? How did you fix it in place?

Here's what I bought from Amazon, but there are multiple brands which pop up when you type in "automotive mesh". Pick any you want, my suggestion would be to get the smallest mesh size (mine is 6mmĂ—3mm) and made out of any metal. There are a couple of plastic ones for cheaper prices but I won't trust those to last long.

AggAuto Universal 40"x13" Car Grill Mesh - 100x33cm Aluminum Alloy Automotive Grille Insert Bumper 3x6mm Rhombic Hole, One of the Most Multifunctional Shape Grids Black https://a.co/d/29ps1zj

As for the fixing part, I just took rough measurements of the length and width of the vent using a measuring tape and cut the mesh accordingly. Had to cut the top part of the mesh further (as seen in the picture) due to the shape of the outer rubber fender lining. Just took the middle two screws out using a screwdriver (don't mess with the tabs as per the guy who did it before me, as he broke them as they're too fragile). Removing the two screws was enough and the I just kept the lining open with a screwdriver and slowly wiggled the mesh in, making minor adjustments in its position until it fit as intended. The outer edge of the fender vent has a thin opening through its entire length so after sliding the mesh in the rubber lining I moved it slightly outward so that it went in that opening and fit snugly in there. I deliberately cut a larger width mesh than the actual vent width as I knew I had to fit it in the outer ridge as well as overlap it with the screw openings on the other end so that it fit from both sides. Don't worry about the screws not going back in; my mesh was aluminum and it is malleable so the screws went right in.

A bit more intense than splash guards but I contacted Rally Armor and they are currently working on an FL5 mudflap set.

I've been watching this company for awhile as I think they look really clean and will probably fit the look of the car better than "Subaru" mud flaps.

Apparently they have released the FL5 ones already but I have yet to see photos and they can't be purchased on their website. I'm not ready to spend that much money without seeing how they look on the actual car. They DO NOT block the front vent from my messages with them.

I'm more concerned about chips from rocks outside of the vents when I go to more aggressive offset wheels and wider tires.

Here's the link to their FL5 page. I ordered some for my BRZ in December and Type R in February and am still waiting for them to come in... :/

UPDATE - had to open up a PayPal dispute and call my CC company to get a refund from carbon guards, stay away from them.

Sweet, I'm going to try these - price seems good for what they are. I'm used to long waits for stuff at this point so as long as they eventually come I can deal although December? WTH.

Now, do I want gloss or matte? Leaning matte. Forged looks cool too.

Looks like it doesn't cover the section that air flows through so you'd still potentially want to add mesh in there.

I’m not a fan of mud flaps or splash guards, but do acknowledge their needs for some. For less than $15, the removal of just two screws, some careful measurements, and 15 minutes of my time, these look OEM and will hopefully do the job. If not, then they’re easy to remove and then I’ll consider one of the pricey plastic pieces.

I would not use this company. I ordered carbon guards for my other car last year and waited 3 months of them promising to send it out every time I reached out. They would not refund my money so I disputed the charge through my CC and eventually got refunded. Not sure how they’re still in business to be honest.

Thank you for sharing. I’m going to look into alternatives. It sucks that they aren’t organized enough to handle orders in a reasonable time.
