A period thrown in would go a long way.

One of the saddest parts of this process to me is how all but a few people I've communicated with care enough to form coherent sentences. I either get spammy auto emails every day or single line garbage grammar and spelling emails/texts back from an actual person. A few times they've called me by the wrong name. I've bought 2 new cars in less than a year and it was the same thing. I get they're busy but I can't imagine doing this at any place I've ever worked. They expect $10k over yet can't even take the time to communicate effectively or get my name right?
I have marked so many damn dealerships as Spam due to this.
I was at DCH Honda of Mission Valley yesterday and here is the quote I got for the Boost Blue CTR. The sales guy gave me the typical sales pitch on how limited the car is and the previous two CTR they had sold at 20k above MSRP. He said the best he could do was remove the cost of the Perma Plate. They offered me a low ball trade in of 13k for my one owner 2019 Civic Sport coupe with 36k miles and has been dealer maintained.
I have had no luck with any dealers in SD/LA.

Also, what the fuck is a perma plate?

The only line item I would agree to pay would be the doc fee, which is capped by CA law.

"If a dealer has a contractual agreement with DMV to be a private industry partner pursuant to Section 1685, the document processing charge shall not exceed eighty-five dollars ($85)."

Not sure what government fees are, can anyone explain those to me? Tax/title/license should be around $5k in total, given the $55k selling price minus the money-grabbing add-ons.

I just traded in two cars at the same time for a brand new one and got right in the middle of the trade in range on KBB for both cars which I felt was fair given each car's condition. On one I got back very close to the original MSRP. In their initial offer they were $500 off and $3,500 off from what I was thinking. In the end they gave me the $4k extra trade allowance without playing with any numbers elsewhere. I know you're not taking this deal anyway but if it were me I'm definitely pushing back to get mid to upper trade value. You were smart to walk away from this one.

Honda of Middleburg heights, OH has a Black one at 56,900 before TTL. Not a good deal but the salesman is Tyler Thornton if you want to try to negotiate .

Please share the price pre TTL. Unless this deal is for in state customers only, the OTD figure doesn't mean anything to anyone outside the state of Ohio who has a different tax base.

You're right I misunderstood the salesman, that number is before TTL and no longer an interesting option. I edited my post

This dealership didn't give me good vibes. I drove an hour to get there and they made zero attempts to work with me. Oh well, I'm not going to let that interaction muddy my mood. Onto the next! Or not! We shall see what happens.

There are now over 300 new CTRs for sale nationwide. Back in 2018, the new CTR inventory nationwide hit 400, and in 2019, went over 700.

At the current rate of new units available growing, I predict over 400 new units by end of year available nationwide. Additionally, with borrowing rates higher than they've been in over 10 years, we could see over 500 new units available by Q1 2024. If you're in the market for the FL5 but can wait 6-9 months, you will no doubt have no problem finding the FL5 at MSRP, at least much easier to find than it is now.

In 2019, I bought my first CTR for MSRP, my brother bought his CTR at MSRP, and a close friend of mine bought his at MSRP. That was simply not possible in 2017, and was extremely difficult in 2018. Unless you don't mind losing the money, we are at the threshold of obtaining at MSRP relatively easily come 2024. This is my opinion anyway

Sorry to hear this happened to you. This is the very reason I don't step foot into the dealership without a deal in place. The "When can you stop by the showroom?" or "Come on in and we'll get you the best deal!" is a non-starter for me. I learned that lesson the hard way a couple times in my early 20s. That will never happen again.

Everything that can be done from the showroom can be done via e-mail, text, or phone. This also applies to a deal that requires a trade-in.

If I recall correctly he was asking $50K. Really surprised no one picked that up from him. $50K was a really good deal considering it has the forged wheels, carbon fiber wing, and seatback protectors at a minimum.
I agree... Honestly, if we were not an MSRP dealer I would've purchased it for the lot.

Great! Thank you very much for the information. I'm not in a rush. So yes, I can wait.

I assumed they would take my offer more seriously if I came in. But yes, lesson learned.
