There are now over 300 new CTRs for sale nationwide. Back in 2018, the new CTR inventory nationwide hit 400, and in 2019, went over 700.

At the current rate of new units available growing, I predict over 400 new units by end of year available nationwide. Additionally, with borrowing rates higher than they've been in over 10 years, we could see over 500 new units available by Q1 2024. If you're in the market for the FL5 but can wait 6-9 months, you will no doubt have no problem finding the FL5 at MSRP, at least much easier to find than it is now.

In 2019, I bought my first CTR for MSRP, my brother bought his CTR at MSRP, and a close friend of mine bought his at MSRP. That was simply not possible in 2017, and was extremely difficult in 2018. Unless you don't mind losing the money, we are at the threshold of obtaining at MSRP relatively easily come 2024. This is my opinion anyway

2019 was an absolutely different world... The value of your CTR is likely as much as it was at the time you purchased it.

If 2021 Civic Type Rs are retailing for over MSRP with milage at 50k or less... Why on earth would a 2023 sell for MSRP new?

FK8 prices will come down as well.
I don't question the direction. I question the distance. I'm all for a discussion on the subject. I understand it is all speculation.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. This is the very reason I don't step foot into the dealership without a deal in place. The "When can you stop by the showroom?" or "Come on in and we'll get you the best deal!" is a non-starter for me. I learned that lesson the hard way a couple times in my early 20s. That will never happen again.

Everything that can be done from the showroom can be done via e-mail, text, or phone. This also applies to a deal that requires a trade-in.
Exactly! All my cars I deal via email. The CTR, I dealt via email and based on this thread, it looks like it worked out for me.

I took a couple months off being in the CTR market while the ITS fiasco unfolded. Now it looks like the ITS is becoming the new CTR with dealer markups/lack of availability, but meanwhile inventory for FL5 CTRs appears to be at an all -time high. Is there any documented proof that anyone other than Savagegeese has gotten one of these cars at MSRP?

Is it even reasonable to think one could be had for $5k?

I think 5k over can be had. I feel like I have seen that posted anyway.

Proof that someone got MSRP... I haven't seen proof but I trust it happens. I work at a Honda dealer that has not marked up a vehicle. That said we would add accessories.

First time posting on here, but I have recently called nearly every dealer in New England who has/had a car in transit as listed on the motoringobsession.com website. Very very few were doing $5k over MSRP, but there are some.

I lucked out finally and managed to snag one from a dealer close to me at $5k over MSRP with no other addons. It comes out to around $54k OTD. I've only put down a deposit, and the vehicle is still in transit. It will probably arrive first week of August, so we'll see if any shenanigans happen at the signing.

$5k is possible with due diligence and leg work on your part. I used a tracker website called Motoring Obsession to see inventory (in transit/on site) across the Eastern US and reached out to dealers. The average markup is $10k plus accessories in my neck of the woods. At this point, it is only speculation on the trajectory of the markups and arguments can be made in both directions.

There are one or two dealers that are MSRP only. However, they're out in the boondocks and either do not sell out of state/town or there is a long wait list. Getting on the list now will be a shot in the dark given the low and limited production numbers and allocations.

I found mine after a user on this forum posted he secured one for $5k + MSRP and I contacted that dealer to secure the next allocation coming in August. I did not like paying a markup. Having to choose between waiting for a few years and not getting an allocation, to paying a $5k markup, and getting it next month, I went with the latter. I did test drive the Integra Type S and am on the list for that at MSRP. I will cancel the ITS as the CTR comes in lower overall and I have a special place for Japan built hot hatches.

This is exactly where I'm at. I have a deposit on an ITS at MSRP, but no end in sight for actually getting a car. Forum chatter suggests it could be months, and I don't even necessarily have a "place in line" so to speak..

Also, it is quite a bit more expensive, especially factoring in accessories which instantly negate the markup difference. For me I'm looking at ~$50k for a CTR vs ~$58k for an ITS (I don't have exact numbers but trying to compensate for a markup on the accessories plus installation, seems most dealers are in the habit of doing that).

I really like the way the Integra looks and the subtle changes they made... but the Civic is starting to look really compelling.

I've only seen proof of one MSRP deal and it was on IG. The individual shared the sales contract from Honda of Marysville in OH. Anyhow, here is my sales contract from Western Honda in Garden City, KS. I paid MSRP and a dealer doc fee of $199. This price represents the first of two price hikes from Honda since the FL5 was launched last year.

This dealership didn't give me good vibes. I drove an hour to get there and they made zero attempts to work with me. Oh well, I'm not going to let that interaction muddy my mood. Onto the next! Or not! We shall see what happens.
I wish I could adopt your mindset, I would be flustered from wasting a 2-hour roundtrip for nothing.

Maybe I'm just jaded from all these scummy dealers.
