The guy from Dream Automotive seemed too relaxed about it. Maybe their air intake mod and other stuff is affecting the cooling. Don't know, but I'm saying this because I've seen other FL5s run without getting oil near that 150C temp. So it's either an issue with the car from factory or the mods done to it. My bet is on the latter.
Tbh that dream guy seemed oblivious, and Mishas view of the oil gauge was blocked due to the camera. Agree w the hypothesis that one of their mods is throwing it off. I think at the beginning of the video you hear them talk about flashing the car back to stock, I wonder if that has something to do with it.

I ran into oil cooling issues yesterday and today at VIR

Temps rise fast on track, I would immediately start a cool down lap when I noticed it hit 270*F. One hero lap I didn't realize until I looked down and saw it was at 280*

Car doesn't throw any warnings or behave any differently but that's very hot for oil after a couple of laps on a 3.27 mile course

More importantly- why does the more expensive ITS have much worse front seats?

Also, - BMW having great resale that is improving? Puh-lease.

I would get a kick out of an older M3 or M5 or even 335i. I would not enjoy maintaining it.
People pay top dollar for used Japanese cars - especially Honda and Toyota because...they're worth it.

Honda has been listening to the marketplace and that was the main complaint about the FL5 when it was being tested by the reviewers -- they wanted more sound. So, Honda probably decided it was important enough to include in the Acura. If they were to do it all again, they may have put it into the CTR as well... altho, i personally like the lower decibel engine sound. The time it seems to be important is on the track at high speed -- where it's important to hear the engine. Otherwise, i prefer the sound of the FL5 exactly as it is. I do Not want to be standing out or drawing attention to myself... i realize some will disagree... so, best case scenario... there should be a means of opening and closing dampers to give options.

As to the question: why does the FL5 body have that 'grown up' look? That's also because the reviewers were all asking for it -- they complained a LOT about the FK8 design... so, Honda delivered. As to why the ITS ended up with the fenders... i have seen reports that said it was designed around an existing chassis, where the body design they wanted on that chassis ended up requiring it. But, don't know if that is true.

Exactly, the FL5 was a reaction to the FK8 design wise - on the whole Honda walked back from their look on the early 2010s Civic, CRV, etc... to something more "rounded" and "mature" than the previous angular look they used. Acura likely had little budget for a full rethink of the Integra, so the "tacked" on look was the result (which actually looks good too!).

Re the exhaust noise, I'm pretty sure other reviews have pointed out that the FL5's exhaust is compliant with worldwide regulations re noise/particulate exhaust, whereby the Integra only has to comply with North American regulations which are less stringent. So it's a backwards outcome in terms of product planning, but it's the best they could do given regulations.

Yeah its weird, if you watch the video they actually make a good point about it when they talk about the product planners and how different off base they were.

Really confusing that the FL5 has better seats, better interior but somehow is less "boy racer" than the luxury variant lol. I guess it shows how there is a huge disconnect between Honda and Acura. The two companies arent in synch like Toyota and Lexus and it shows.

From watching Savageese talk about his upcoming NSX documentary apparently the 2nd NSX was from start to finish was an Acura (North America) project and Honda Japan and 0 input. The people who worked on the 2nd Gen had nothing to do with the 1st gen and vice versa. Lol Apparently the people who worked on the 1st gen don't even want to talk about the 2nd gen car because they hate it 😆

I enjoy listening to or reading opinions on this car but...

How can you get in this car and not be sure what individual settings you are in?

I dont really agree with the whole noise compliance/regulation issue regarding why the FK8 and FL5 exhuast is weak. Its only been talked about here as to why the FL5 is quiet. There are other cars that are louder and sold are worldwide (like the GR86, and GRC) and aren't as quiet.
