For the price of the CT5BW I'd rather have a C8 Z06 or a Cayman GT4 but thats just me.

The joy of the CTR (hot hatchbacks in general) is that its a do everything car. I wouldn't want to give that up.

No. But I lived most of my life with no access to a Type R, so I’m keeping this thing.

The Caddy is a fast, heavy car. Maybe too fast, "bull in a China shop" fast. I've ridden in a friend's 600+hp/600+ft-lb Camaro. It's fun for the 3 seconds 0-60, but doesn't feel special otherwise. Magnetic shocks feel sloppy in comfort mode.

Also, GM doesn't seem to have good parts support once the cars are out of production. Honda does much better in this regard.

This was one of my main concerns when cross shopping a CT4-V BW with the FL5. Nearly all replacement parts have to come from GM, zero aftermarket parts availability. And with low production numbers, I imagine this will be problematic.

As for the CT5-V, it has had more than a few reports of engine failure.

Totally different cars in totally different price points, not really comparable.

But yes, if you told me here is a CT5 and all you have to do is give us the FL5 Id trade it in a heard beat.

The BW at my last track day dumped all of its oil after 1/2 a lap 👎 car had about 1500 miles on it. Practically brand new.

If I had a bucket load of cash I wouldn't hesitate for a second to dump the R for a black wing.

Really? GM still offers the LT4 and LT1 as crate engines.

Have you driven one? Because every reviewer says otherwise.

Specially if you mention a camaro which is an excellent drivers car

I have not driven a Blackbird, but my experiences in GM cars (Vettes included) have always been devoid of the feel I get in Hondas. Obviously Vettes/Camaro/etc. are fast and generate good lap times, but don't feel special at normal speeds.

"Savagegeese" Youtube channel recently reviewed the Blackbird. They enjoyed it, but noted the price was north of $130K. If I remember right, they said a brake job was tens of thousands of $ too (carbon brake option).

Blackbird is perhaps a better car than Euro options, but similar operating costs.

Don't listen to the haters, I actually compared the CT5V BW before I bought the FL5. In fact, I also compared it against the M2, M3 and Land Cruiser...who says you have to compare the within a set car class...

Anyways, I would 100% trade the FL5 to a CT5V Blackwing if that fits your needs and lifestyle. A few reasons:
  • Basically a N/A V8 (I know it is supercharged, but I consider them basically the same)
  • You still get to have an amazing shifter that is very comparable to the FL5
  • More of a comfortable GT cruiser, which is lovely for long drives
And although the first gen interior is inferior to the Germans, it is still better than the FL5 lol. I do like the second gen interior more.

this thread is what I've gone through before I purchased my FL5. my requirement for a new car was MT and 4 doors.

https://www.civicxi.com/forum/threads/cross-shopping-fl5.56117/

5BW - fast but not agile - ruled it out (and would have been too long to fit in my garage)

4BW - is more fun to drive than FL5 (RWD, more powerful/better power to weight ratio, etc) but less practical, more expensive. less room inside, heavier, longer (would not fit in my garage)

FL5 - more practical than 4BW, reliability, space/utility, gas mileage, still plenty of fun to drive (love it), and best of all, it fits in my garage :)
