If you don't yet own a house or any property for that matter, get the Si. Don't be that guy with the CTR in an apartment lol. That being said, get the Type R, no brainer.
Great advice but I don't think people in the car community listen to it often. I know a guy with 4 cars, 2 jeeps, a camaro, and a ram truck. Guy constantly complains about money and lives like a block away from the trailer park

Yep. Being “car rich” is definitely a thing and really dumb. My family had a plumbing business and my dad used to hate working at some people’s houses. They’d have very nice, new, vehicles in the driveway, but wanted to be on a payment plan for even just a $100-$200 job!

Is the extra headroom because lack of sunroof or lower seating or both? I was going to do an autocross and was also concerned about helmet clearance. Im 5'6", how tall are you? Was it a tight fit or impossible to drive with a helmet?
The moonroof in the Si takes up about 2" of headroom. I had a 2017 Sport hatch (no moonroof) before the Si, and in the Si I had to lower the seat all the way to avoid touching the roof. I'd probably not be able to wear a helmet, but I'm 6'2", you should be fine.

Looks like OP might've felt a little embarrassed about the thread, changed title to ... and said they chose the SI while saving for the track car 🤔
You’re right. Cuz i hate to accept fact people are hating on me because of that 1.5 motor are not as reliable.

Thanks for this thread post explained very well. I think the car im going to be trading this car in for is probably M2(G87) or Gt4. As i mentioned i wanna save overall for those options.
Best of luck, those cars are in massively different leagues than the CTR financially (though comparable in many ways). Don't get into debt chasing a beemer or a Porsche, many have already. At that rate a used FXX M2 may be better for you.

Though maintenance will typically cost you an arm and a leg. There's a reason BMW owners never do the "big 3" 😆

Meh. Si was never meant to be for clout chasers. With some minor tweaks, its a fun reliable daily driver. It's comical how much hate this car gets. Parts are relatively cheap, and it's easy to diy. I'm running mine til the wheels fall off.

Decided- Civic Si. Save money overall for better track car in future.
We're actually considering trading the Type R for a 2020 Si, to give to my son as his first car. (he loves the 10th gen look).

Since I have a company car (2026 Subaru Outback) the Type R hardly gets driven, just 2k miles after 11 months.

Aww man, why not just give him the type R? Is the tradeoff for risk and cost not worth it? I know a few people who got rid of their type Rs because of kids.

Not for a first car. I wouldn't personally let the Type R go, but I wouldn't give it to my son for his first car. My son will be driving soon and I'm looking for a 9th gen SI or a 10th gen SI coupe. R is too much power for an inexperienced driver.

Insurance would probably be insane, also he needs to start with something more attainable. I'd get him something cheaper but the state of the car market these days means they're literally no cool affordable cars (besides a Civic). When i was young we had a lot of choices.
