1st and 2nd gear whine at low speed

Hey everyone!

I tried searching for this but didn't find anything.

I notice gear whine in 1st and 2nd at low speeds. I have since the car was new, it now has about 200 miles.

Is this normal? The car drives fine from what I can tell.

completely normal. especially on decel. and the a/c makes a similar, very faint, whine noises at certain rpms

Damn, I am in the same predicament, only 800 miles right now and a whine at around 10-15 mph 2nd gear only. So per this thread, nothing to worry about right?

you're fine. gears make noises. never driven a manual that didn't have gear noise.

I think my case may be a little different from OP's, but I have a '25 CTR with 17k miles (owned since new) on the clock, and it just developed a audible whine in 2nd gear only, while under load. I am sure it's no coincidence that the night before the whine developed, I was railing thru some local backroad twisties. A couple of the turns are tight hairpins which required dropping down to 2nd to enter them, and I was near WOT on the exit while still in 2nd. Next morning...2nd gear whine. Wondering what may of 'broke'.

yea there's a couple videos out there with the same 2nd gear whine, mine now sounds the same. I tend to think what others have said in this thread is correct. Probably not a problem till it's really a problem (ie, the whine continues to get louder, vibration or ruffness, or shifting degrades over time) alghough I'd feel a little better in my case if it was there from the start instead of a sudden onset.
