I'm glad I wasn't the only car nerd considering picking up a copy to go with the car! Haha.

TLDR: Type R wins.

Toyota doesn't lose this comparison test so much as the 2023 Honda Civic Type R wins it with its end-to-end excellence. Not a single major asterisk attaches itself to the CTR: It delivers racy performance, refinement, spaciousness, quality, and a special sizzle that will indulge owners every day, just as a leading hot hatch should.
Honda has basically had 6-7 years to develop this car vs a year or two for Toyota, I think that shows in the end product. I hope Toyota makes a 2nd gen.

That is one way to look at it. I'll even ignore that the GR Yaris has existed.

I would like to give Honda more credit than that.

I would say the Civic, no matter the trim is a superior vehicle to it's Toyota counterpart.. So the starting point is simply a better one.

Still, I too hope Toyota continues. The more hot hatches the better.

I wonder how many of us common folks got to test drive their new type R before we bought it? I didn’t!

I don’t think I saw this one posted earlier.

Interesting review. Although not sure why compare against the Morizo. Going to be near impossible to get that car.

Because the Morizo Edition is the best version and closest to CTR in terms of power.
