there was a comment a while back on reddit where apparently the person said he visited the plant where fl5s were made and spoke to the lead engineer who said there wont be any more fl5s in 2026, lmfao really cant trust anyone on the internet

here is the link to the comment:

I remember that thread and also thought the run was ending MY25. I should have known it was more like a "My uncle works at Nintendo and told me..." type thing.

I suspect they aren't really paying a 15% tariff on FL5s, they probably have some deal worked out based on US content, or maybe based on Trump TACOing.

Honda isn't likely paying $6k tariff on FL5s or they'd increase prices or cancel it.
Likely a combo of all of the above, with a little reduction in profits since I am sure the roi for development costs of this one were realized in year 1 of production.

I worked in Japan, they don't tell the peons anything. :D

It also goes to my theory that the tariffs didn't pan out as people thought - Trump Taco'd or something, that made the FL5 remain viable.

Well hope it’s minor so I don’t feel like upgrading.

I guess they will at least change to USB type-C ports and Android automotive infotainment.

Looks like nothing has changed for the 2026 model year other than the price increase. I heard previous mention of a thicker paint being applied that would be less resistant to chipping. Curious if anyone has verified or if the thicker paint is something that will be added as part of the 2027 model year refresh.

Stumbled on something very interesting today. Theres large databases of CGI vehicle images for marketing applications. One of the big ones is EvoX, check out their site looking at Type Rs. Sand Dune Pearl, Solar SIlver Metallic, Meterorite Gray. That said these are showing as 2025 but its very interesting to see unreleased colors. Also silver wheels.
