Civic SIs are getting marked up $5k at all of my nearby dealerships :/
Yeah, I'd expect that right now. Luckily I don't need a car til I return to the US in 2-3 years. I'd expect ADMs are probably gone by then, unless we're already past the recession and back to money printing.

I gave up and got a 22 Miata Club with Brembos/Recaros. May not be a straight line bruiser, but with coilovers it handles really well.
A new Miata is the eventual backup plan for me too. Would keep that forever as the weekend toy, and add a future Golf R EV or something way down the road.

Yeah, it’s as good as I imagined. I’ve got an HKS Supercharger on order now, so should make some healthy HP to go along with the handling. Still sad about the Type R situation, but had to make a decision.

I hear ya man, the markups and limited quantities is such a bummer. But it seems like those who get the Miata, really get it. I’ve test driven the ND2 a few times and love the gearbox, the handling, and the open air sensation. Really a great “consolation prize” if missing out on the Type R. What’s your other car if the Miata isn’t your only one?

Man these markups are making me consider more expensive options. Anyone know what the CT4V Blackwing ADM is? Never been a caddy fan, but everyone seems to love it.

Ya the CT4 V Blackwing has been an idea of mine too, but I’ve seen ones 20 k adm a few months ago. Just looked now it appears ADMS MAY BE 5-10k. I’ve also been thinking of a new to used GLA 45 or CLA 45.

I may wait but man I’ve was literally planing to buy a new car right in the spring before the pandemic. How the fuck longer should I wait???

If you are trading... you should never wait if you can avoid adm.

I have said this before on the forums, but the problem with the CTR (FK8) is that while it has a really good chassis and good brakes it really lacks in engine, sound and acceleration grip.

The engine is super laggy (maybe it will be better on the FL5) and it sounds like crap. New exhaust only makes it louder, not better sounding. Then because of the FWD it just spins up its wheels all the time unless you have really optimal conditions. I had about 380hp but it just felt so slow all the time. You could not use that power until end of 3rd gear maybe.

There are some things that are good with the CTR but in general I prefer an M2 (first gen) over it.
I hear a lot of people talk about the first gen M2 and how good it is. Did you own one and if so - how did it compare to the M2 Competition (If you had the chance to test drive that as well) - I know the M2 is on the ‘short list’ as well but the CTR just offers so much ‘daily driving’ and ‘fun’ factor that it is really high on my list compared to other cars/brands.

No I’m gonna sell Direct. Take cash roll over deposit from my business. Hopefully if I wait until, end of year to January we can see some 5k adms which I’m willing to do. Otherwise I’m specing another car at a dealer.

Thr vehicle tou are selling is going down in value too. It also is worth too much.

I feel the lines blur more than one may think.

Well STI’s before the Type R we’re the resale kings for many years, and actually only until they announced no more STIs the prices have raised(5-7k) The pandemic did not cause the value to raise much as it was always high. It is not like original STIs in America, but could be a future classic. I don’t see prices dropping much.

Honestly with rates increasing I’m probably gonna build an Exocet in cash vs buying something with a payment.

I really wonder about this forum. For so many people to be still in the market for a near 60k Civic(after at minimum 5k markup + TTF). Are you guys sitting on saved cash? Are you all making over 100k? Are your jobs absolutely secure?
