So I’m planning to do a few track days a year and I’d like to drive my car to the track. What kind of brake pads are recommended that are decent for both street and track driving. I don’t care if they make a lot of dust and as long as they aren’t super loud I’ll be okay.

I run the Carbotech XP10 (F) and XP8 (R) in my S2000 and did the same on the FK8. I am planning to do the same on the FL5. They are dusty and before track day, it is pretty loud. After one track day, they are a lot quieter. Every now and then you will hears high pitch screech but it’s no where near the initial sound.

@BuntaTypeR I am running the Paragon P3 up front with their 370mm BBK. Setup is mostly quiet with some super minor squeaking right when you come to a stop in certain conditions. They did fine on track. Dusty but should be expected and not too far off from OEM pads in that regard.

A lot of people recommend the Ferodo DS2500 for street/track hybrid pads. I might try those next.

key difference for my reference as well:

ds2500 efficiency drops down on 600c but it's noisy?

efficiency falls down 600C. ive used these pads. it's so quiet that I forget that I'm using a track race pad.

Yeah I guess if the Ferodo ends up being noisy and that's a hard requirement for you, the P3 might be worth a shot, especially since it's cheaper.

Worst case, you might need to run a cool down lap every few laps.

It's difficult to have one pad that is good for track and street because you tend to wear the fronts out pretty quick on track depending on how hard you're needing to get into the brakes. The rears I typically leave alone, but I swap the fronts back to a "street" compound when I'm not tracking.

I just put in Paragon P3 for the front last Saturday. First track day is on May 5th. So I’ll see how it is. For street driving, it’s silent.

Man I've DD'd XP10 before in my old car, I can't stand the noise and the dust on those...
I still have XP10 and XP8 in my S2000. I don’t daily the car but it doesn’t squeak but definitely dusts a lot. Having a white car doesn’t help.

A car
Endless MX 72 plus. Done 4-5 track days with them and use them daily. They are dusty and a little pricey. For me they work great.

I had the Ferodo DS2500 on the front brakes on my last car. I am with PointByPatrol, swapping the fronts for track driving with a dedicated track pad is the way to go.

That being said, I was very happy with the DS2500 for dual duty. They do need a little more heat into them to build up to normal braking force at the start of a drive when ambient temps are low, for example. I would get some noise while coming to a stop in street driving in certain conditions but it was really rare. I had no regrets using those pads on a daily driver.
