Looking to change out my Transmission fluid on my FL5. Had read several Post recommending Amsoil MTF, AC Delco, Redline MTF, Redline MT 90. Im wanting to update to remove the crunchy 2nd gear grinds during fast shifting. I was about to go with Amsoil but I read that it can not be used with LSD. The FL5 is equipped with LSD so im kinda lost. Seen other people using it without issues supposedly. What do you guys recommend?

75w-90 is what it is supposed to use for gear oil on these cars. The Amsoil MTF is not that weight but the gear oils do have options.

Just add an additional product to the existing oil, that's my recommendation i was experiencing some grinding and hard shifting from 1st to 2nd in the morning and sometimes with the transmission at operating temperature, i opened the fill plug and added this: LIQUI MOLY MoS2 Antifriction for Gears | 50 g | Oil additive | SKU: 2019 https://a.co/d/erdEEzo

I was going to go with Amsoil MTF as well, being a long time Amsoil user, but noticed that the weight is way off from the recommended 75w-90. Did you switch to the Amsoil MTF on your FL5?

No I am going to use the Amsoil Severe gear oil not the Amsoil MTF. I used the MTF on the s2000 but the type R requires a heavier oil.

Just a PSA, pickup 3 qts of trans fluid as 2 is not enough. Type R takes 2.3 technically. I don't know if being low by 0.3 would cause an issue, but better be safe than sorry

I've used both Amsoil MTF and AC Delco in previous cars. Both were way better in cold winter weather. Just a little better than factory fill when hot.

Transmission's go through a break-in period too and I'd recommend not forcing shifts at first.

Torsen type LSD's do not need special LSD oil. Traditional Posi-Traction clutch pack type LSD's did spec a different oil back in the day.

For your '24 CTR, what trans fluid are you going with? I think I'm going to go the Amsoil route. Severe Gear 75W-90. I have plenty of that on hand. Either that or perhaps the Redline MTL
