For a car supposedly making 225bhp, it sure doesn't perform like it. According to reviews, the 11th gen is no faster and in fact, slower than the 10th gen. MT's Si only trapped 92.8mph which is not indicative of a car making 225bhp. I'm not saying the dyno is off, but if this car is indeed making 225bhp, there must be something else a foot because this car is way too slow for those numbers.

A 225BHP Si should be as fast as an LSJ Cobalt, power to weight would be identical as would torque and power curves. Yet the LSJ Cobalt does 5.9 0-60 and 14.4 @ 100mph. Wonder if Honda is cutting timing like Subaru did on the WRX for emissions or something. Either way, it doesn't add up imo.
I think we'll find out because tuning could fix a lot of this. It might tune a good 20-30 hp above last gen on stock turbo.

The main point of the dyno chart on the previous page is one of comparison. Our 22 Si makes 10% more peak power than our 2017 Si. This dyno is very repeatable. It can lay down repeated 900 hp with less than 1/2 a horsepower of variance.

Note that our 22 Si had only 40 miles, and the dealer fuel quality was unknown.

It’s the pumped in engine noise adding 10% more power. Just like adding rgb on computers gives more fps. Science ?

Between this and seeing the reviews, this 2022 Si might be the new king of G-Street in Autocross.
I just hope they keep us in GS. Can't wait for this upcoming season.

Umm What????

I have a Touring and it indeed kicks in the V-Tech, yo. And at WOT. And such a happy sound I haven't heard in a long time.
That's pretty hard to believe, considering...

The "WOT Engage RPM" for VTEC in the ECU is literally "32767rpm", so unless you're revving the engine to 32,767+rpm, your mind is playing tricks on you (or perhaps some cabin audio trickery).

It's only active during "cruise" conditions.

Maybe the car enters a "dyno mode" when it detects it is on a dyno (using the wheel speed sensor data)? And this dyno mode shows a best case scenario (aka bullshit) for power output.

Total guess on my part, but I don't know how else to explain a car with similar weight, gearing, an additional 20-ish whp is running, at best, similar times to the old car.

Ososik just did the dyno......and the new 11th gen actually makes 195 WHP and 193 WTQ
This sounds more realistic. MT trapped the 1/4 at 92.8 mph, which in 2021, is comical. No doubt fuel economy and emission standards play a part, but from a performance standpoint, this car is disappointing.

195 WHP would be about 215 crank so the dyno sheets are probably within the margin or error and/or variation between engines. The CivicX Si tended to come in 185-190 WHP stock fwiw.

Where are you seeing trap speeds for CivicXI?

What do you mean by ‘actually?’

You’re (unintentionally) implying that Hondata’s results are dishonest in some way.

Different types of dynamometers read differently. Hondata have repeatedly stated that theirs is intended to approximate crank numbers, so it will be higher than others that read power at the wheels.

Either way, @OsosikMedia ’s results would also indicate something much higher than the rated numbers, if their results are ‘actually’ indicating wheel power.

Motor Trend is the only outlet that released any instrumented data.

Not to question them, but it seems weird that all of these other publications (including fellow old guard like Car & Driver) are only publishing ‘first drive’ impressions. How and why did Motor Trend have the time and access to do track testing?
