It's ADM across the board because almost all vehicles are limited production still and fly off lots as soon as they show up. Until dealers have too many cars again it won't stop.
Repos and crazy amounts of delinquencies will happen before then IMO, which will result in dealers having too many cars again.

When banks stop issuing loans, most cars will sit, including possibly the Type R (depending on production volume).

The majority of Type R’s (and all other cars) are purchased with credit. The majority of people buying them with ADM are probably not in a position to, let alone being financially savvy. I’m not telling anybody what to do with their money. Just making an observation.

When everybody around me is driving a new car, I know what’s up. And it’s only a matter of time. Finance 101.

Honestly this is just disgusting. Shows the character of people in this world. This car is not that special. I owned a fk8. Fun and cool but nothing mind blowing. I love reading the variety or responses on these forums concerning the mark ups. So many schmucks just accept, pay it, and say thats just the way it is. How dumb. If no one paid it they wouldnt sell!!! Then they would drop the price, duh! But hey what do i know, im just a millionaire.
I knew the adm people were going to attack this person after this post šŸ˜‚

Your statement is conjecture laced with assumption and smothered wIth false hope. FL5 waaay more limited than FK8, last ice Type R and way more mystique and cult following than the Integra. Average age of purchase seems much older 35-45than the FK8 and more easily able to afford it.

Considering majority of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck including ones making six figs... I don't believe for a second that not everyone that overpaid could afford it statistically.
I feel like most people who are in this situation feel that they can have the vehicle and drive it for 6mo - to flex on everyone and then trade it in and basically get all their money back. So the risk is worth the reward.

That’s merely your opinion, which is also laced with assumption.

Most cars are, in fact, purchased with credit. I’m confident this applies to the Type R, as well.

And just because someone can ā€œmore easily afford itā€ doesn’t mean they’re not swimming in debt. Unfortunately, people’s definition of ā€œaffordableā€ had changed drastically over the years.

I’ve seen 50 year olds make worse financial decisions than 20 year olds. Age is not a good indicator of financial literacy.

Anytime you get folks paying 10-20k ADM on a Civic they don’t own, you know the average buyer is not in the right state of mind.

I’ve had a few dealers reach out to me about their deals falling through financially probably because the buyers didn’t have the difference in ADM to their loan amount in cash up front.

Haha. I can easily afford it and would like to stay on topic. How many of u disagree with my statement, if no one paid adm then they would have to drop the price? This is the heart of the matter. The dealers are getting people to bend to their will cause they all are marking up. We could get them to bend to our will by not obliging.
I theory this is all it would take however, all it takes is one guy to say I’ll give you +$$$$ and it snowballs from there.

It’s called market value. People are going to pay what they feel its worth to them. That’s called supply and demand - basic tenets of a free market economy. This conversation and thread is soooo old. Nobody knows what the future holds but encouraging people to change their own value structure to artificially deflate rates is straight up wrong. Two bottles of water in the desert and three people - how bad do you want it? What is your opportunity cost, what is your current and future earning potential?

FK8 owners and those unwilling to pay market prices have the right to be butthurt but don’t try to argue for communism or tamper with peoples value structure. Put up or shut up and wait and see what happens.

If you are living paycheck to paycheck buying a new car should be at the bottom of your to do list. Just my 2 cents.
unfortunately those guys have been paying 10k over for Kia suvs. I remember the same craze with Elantra N, so many folks paid over 5k when new and now they can easily be had for under msrp.

Situation dictates everything. I have a 22 Si that was in an accident. Insurance company paying about $10k for diminished value and the car will still net me $10-$12k once I sell it. This is my down payment for my FL5 and helped me absorb the $10k ADM, which I would not have paid otherwise. For once an accident actually benefited me, even if I had no car for 5 month. Even have some extra cash to pay for ceramic and PPF.

Finding an Si for MSRP when I purchased a year ago helped, considering used ones are going for $30K+. Turning a little profit to help with next purchase. Timing is everything I guess.

I think if I had to get a car right now, I’d get a Elantra N for couple grand under sticker. Drive the shit out of it stock with warranty and get a MMC FL5 in 3 years for msrp.

I see my posts did their job in spurring conversation. Interesting what it reveals in the spectrum of responses.
