I have a 2025 Type R, about 1300m. I babied it since new. The transmission always chunked on the 1-2 shift, but I never thought much of it. A few days ago I did my first pull with hard acceleration and 1-2 shift which ground and would not engage. I had to release / repress the clutch for it to engage. What are your thoughts on this?

Further, I have noticed a bit of a behavior out of the car. The clutch seems to begin biting / car moving when it displays 30% or so on the clutch travel gauge of LOGR. (meaning roughly 30% from the very top of the stroke.) It kinda feels a bit sloppy and unpredictable.

Any recommendations on this?

On a probably not, but possibly related note. I was checking for transmission slipping and noticed this behavior.

On the interstate if I place the car in 6th going about 60mph it is at 2000rpm. If I romp on it, it will initially accelerate to 2500rpm (Original + 500 rpm) rapidly, within a second or so. Then hang there for a few seconds with minor +-100rpm fluctuations, then slowly climb. It does the same at roughly 3000rpm in fifth gear. I am not convinced this is a slip, and is likely just the way the car is mapped/turbo lag etc. But, I don't have any other reference points for this car. It is my first honda. Does this seem normal?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It doesn't like 1-2 shifts, especially if they are too fast. I have had that happen a few times. Acuity shifter helped. I will be changing MTF to redline whenever I get a chance. It has been happening since new and I am at 6k miles.

Don't floor it in 5th or 6th, that is really bad for the engine. You should downshift. Also, don't floor it under ~3500 rpms unless launching, which I also wouldn't recommend.

My '22 SI also had the same issue, so it isn't a Type R problem.

Absolutely. I wouldn’t typically do that, I was checking for clutch slippage.
