FL5 Boost Blue #684, 2022 Si (sold)
Picked up a fully loaded boost blue Type R today and so far, really digging it. Options included the forged wheels, carbon fiber spoiler, alcantara wheel/shifter, and a few others.

Some brief comparisons to my traded in 11th gen Si

-Si shifter felt smoother. Not sure if the FL5 needs more break in but so far the Si's manual felt better. Type R shifter is not bad, just a little bit notchier then the Si. If the Si was a 10, the Type R is a 9.5 however the FL5 clutch is superior (better engagement and feel).

-FL5 same basic interior layout, just much more premium. Bose stereo sounds identical. Of course the seats, full digital gauges, and other updates like the lighted door inserts and materials used are a welcome upgrade. At 6'1'', I appreciate the added headroom in the Type R with no sunroof. Seats are fantastic even in my 200lb frame.

-FL5 steering/handing very similar to the Si around town but I need more seat time in the twisties for better comparisons. PS4s > F1 AS2s

-FL5 comfort mode suspension feels a bit softer to the stock Si with it's lack of electronic dampening. Sport dials it up past the Si and R mode even further. R mode suspension is comically bouncy but adds to the experience.

-FL5's additional power and R mode are incredible, this thing rips!. Rev hang is gone! Exhaust note is a bit better but not by much.

Overall super happy with the upgrade and look forward to ownership!

Congratulations! Itā€™s good to see so many embracing the OEM accessories for the FL5, the FK8 didnā€™t get this much play when it came to the accessories

Yes, fortunately I'm local and bought a few cars from them so that helped.

Congratulations! It does sound like compared to the Si it really wasnā€™t an upgrade though?

Iā€™m about to do the same thing. I believe Iā€™ll be able to get my dealer to MSRP, but all things considered does it feel anywhere near worth $14k more? I feel like if I put that into the Si I could make it very similar, if not better.

Plus, I think Iā€™ll miss my skylight :-/

Time will tell but I feel it was worth it. As an 11th gen Si owner, I simply wanted to point out some quick traits I saw in the FL5. Sometimes I read these FL5 forums and can't help but think the Si has become lost in the shuffle. It's had amazing handling and a bose stero for a year now lol.

Overall loving the upgrade but it's not just raw power. The FL5 brakes, suspension, electronics, seats, aero, wheels/ tires, all come together in a tight, warrantied package in hatchback form, something the Si will never have. The stock Si clutch is also a hug letdown and a detriment for adding more cheap power. For me, upgrading to the FL5 was more appealing compared to the cost and time/energy upgrading the Si to bring it to the same level. But I do understand the appeal and applaud those that go that direction...the Si is an incredible package for the $.

Actually not surprised by your comments. A lot of reviewers of the FK8 said in comfort mode under 4k RPMs you felt like you were practically in a normal civic.

Also, most of the differences can only be felt on a track or when youā€™re really getting on it.

Someone does...so they can ridicule him šŸ˜‚
I'd like to know because the more we know the better we who are trying to haggle can gauge pricing.

Thanks OP, Iā€™ve been looking for a Boost Blue pic with those wheels! Looks amazing.

The 2020 Si was a near perfect car for me except it had a moonroof and wasnā€™t a hatch. So the Type R should be perfect.
