How much time did you wait for it? How did you get it?

That’s why I was interested in the Garage Unique, but like always late to the party and they aren’t making it anymore, I will save my money and maybe make the investment properly by going the Voltex route or even Spoon, even though they are equally expensive. I’m not looking for more downforce or anything similar; I just want something that looks cool to me, because kids today aren’t like when I was growing up. The cool car isn’t really a thing anymore, so I’m going to invest in something high-quality, like you said. The part that really frustrates me is waiting for a part and dealing with all this JDM “discontinued” pricing I just can’t deal with it.

Voltex is actually quite good with having stock available through their dealers. Spoon is currently overwhelmed with orders for their parts so wait times are elevated. It's Varis, Seeker, ASM, Cleib and other boutique JDM manufacturers that tend to have extended wait times.

There are not that may FL5s and out of all of them very few people would pay $4500 on a wing so I wonder if they really are overwhelmed of if they are pulling a rolex a bit

Damn.. I didn’t even know the Garage Unique wing was discontinued. I’m gonna appreciate mine much more now. I currently have mine paired with Cusco Risers, and recently got it back from paint.

Exceed Japan also has an OEM style wing, it’s slightly bigger and has sharper angles compared to factory, but it still retains the factory mounting points. I also installed their Front lip a few weeks ago too.

Idk for sure but based on the multiple Spoon dealers I know that can’t even keep the Spoiler in stock Spoon is doing well.

It was easy to install the lip? How the lip mounts you need drill holes to mount it into the bumper? At this point I really give up too on trying to get something that works with OEM location mounts because the aren’t too many like that and the current theme or wand a lot for it and have you wait endless years.

Don’t want to say anything political about it, but they will take advantage of you at the port when it arrives. Even though the number for the part on the tariff is one, the company bringing the product will still try to take advantage of people regardless. Probably I’m wrong, but I read that whenever you pay for something, the company is the one that charges the import duties, and it isn’t like there’s a standard number. That’s why I stopped looking at Blackhawk—until this system is figured out, I don’t want to get stuck with a huge bill just because I dared to buy a product from Japan.

Also, to make a point, I understand that these companies are all about quality and all that, but I’ve said it multiple times: in 2025, this type of situation with parts should be rare. Like @MooMoo said, there aren’t that many FL5s, and not a lot of people can just afford $5k parts. From comments I see on this forum, some owners of this car also have something like a GT3 at home, so of course they can get those parts easier than the majority of owners who consider this car their “dream car” and are stretching for it. Not bashing anyone some people are more successful than others, and that’s just how it works but companies pulling this stuff are just living on hype, and it’s ridiculous.

It’s like buying a 25-year-old or older car. This happened to me: I wanted an R33 GTR, and when I found out I could buy the car, I got excited and started looking into it. I thought it was a $10k car plus whatever for import. Then I learned about the 25-year rule and dug deeper, only to get frustrated when I saw prices had jumped to $80k. Sadly, I couldn’t afford it because of things like insurance, drivability, and other factors. But honestly, the hype is what really makes it hard for everyone to get something.

By 2025, companies should be able to keep up with demand while still making a quality product, and I don’t think they’re worth giving money to if they can’t. People are maintaining an unsustainable business model that has somehow worked for decades, but eventually, people should realize it’s not sustainable. You’re paying for something in advance, and if the company goes under, what’s going to happen to that money a lot of us consider an investment? It will disappear with the company.

That’s my opinion. Probably I’m not accurately representing anyone or saying anything right and just rambling, but that’s how I feel about this kind of situation. Sorry for the long post.

Lip is easy to install, you do have to screw into the bumper though. Apart from Project Aero and a couple others there really aren't any options that use the OEM screw points.

Its not a bad business model to only make what they already basically sold.
This is why I compared them to rolex really, they could be making way more lips and wings, these are not hard things to make lol so this is why I think they do operate in artificial scarcity.

It is what it is, does not really concern me as I am not in the market for $5000 wings and such

Neither am I on the market for that, and it’s honestly preposterous that those were our only options especially when not everyone is tracking their car most of this FL5’s will never see a track in their lifetime in that sense. But it’s like everything in life: the moment you scrape the money together, the item gets discontinued or something. What can we do at the end of the day?

As long as people are willing to play these games, this will keep happening. It’s not convenient for, accurate to keep a shelf full of parts because they can keep riding this artificially hyped market. Like you said, a lip and a spoiler aren’t exactly a space shuttle but here we are.

Id wage that probably 80% of the people with the spoon wing never been to a track in their lives lol
But also its ok, if people like it and can afford it, and that means they will keep making cool stuff. I love the spoon crane wing, one of my favorites. Voltex is slightly cheaper, also amazing product and they all work for what they been designed for.

On some of the products though I do think higher price makes sense, some of these parts are such small production and testing so they will have to charge more. And maybe wing does fit in this too, I dunno but I still think its artificial scarcity
