I’m in the market for a type r. I found a used one for $5k under MSRP. However, I recently came across several articles that the 2027 type r refresh will have heat front seats. That’s one feature I really want and willing to wait.

Does anyone know how true this is and when would Honda release 2027 type r since they confirm it’s coming out this year? A yes am willing to pay MSRP or a slight mark up just for heated seats and being a brand new car.

You could get the Type S! Same car, with a bit more comfort! I'm thinking of switching myself in the near future. That silver looks so good!

I used to own a type s when they first came out. I thought I would like it better than the fl5. But honestly the type r looks better in my opinion, and it just feels special with the red seats, carpet and being a type r. The type s was too soft for me. Am used to stiff suspension, bucket seats and more raw feeling and the type s is the opposite.

Type S is a watered down Type R- it doesn't in any way satisfy the same enthusiast itch and it is nowhere near as special.

To answer your question, I think it's too early to tell or put a ton of faith in that article. Just have to wait and see as info comes out over time.

Until Honda comes out and confirms these additions, it's just speculation.

I always find it weird when people talk down on the "Type S" nomenclature for Hondas. Type S branding is actually sought after in JDM lands.

Source: Most of the cars we get locally are JDM, we get to see the demand for specific variants. Type Rs are by no means rare.

If you can get one now for 5k off MSRP, buy it and adapt heated seats into it. I’ll bet the wiring exists in the harness already.

that list is most of the upgrades all the publications said were coming for the 2026. I waited because Id want all of them. Finally broke down and bought a 25 and then none of those things happened. You will wait forever and haven nothing if you keep waiting for the next best thing

The only announcement made has been regarding a styling refresh for 2027. Nothing else is known
Yep. Styling refresh and infotainment I believe are the only things they mentioned. It was very vague wording from Honda (which is normal until the cars are pretty much in production). So anyone talking specifics at this point is just making shit up.

I definitely want heated seats, heated steering wheel, sunroof/moonroof, and all that jazz if it were my daily. The civic type R is not my daily. I don't have to worry about whether new performance seats are heat-compatible. And the cloth seats, to me, never felt too cold. I never use the moonroof or sunroof on my existing cars, so I appreciate the rigidity it provides. I do wish it came with USB-C ports (maybe they could be swapped out in the future?). If these features came stock with the car, then of course I'll take it, but it wouldn't be a deciding factor if I were shopping for one right now.

If daily, I would've ended up with the Civic Sport manual, which comes with all of those features.
