Well it finally happened. After 65 thousand miles of daily pulls at 400WHP, the motor called it quits. Cant say I'm surprised, just figured the motor had more time. Seems to me that I spun a rod bearing. Shit happens, I'm in good spirits.

I need help putting together a parts list, I'm a bit out of my depth on this one. I have personally done complete rebuilds on dirtbikes and four wheelers but nothing this size. I do fully intend on doing the build myself. I will have help- I have a buddy who's been building engines for years, and my dad was a master tech for GM for 30 years so that's not my concern. I just really don't know what to buy.

For rods I was thinking Skunk2 Alpha Series
For pistons I was thinking either CP or Wiseco, leaning more to Wiseco as they've never ever let me down.
As for main and rod bearings I'm clueless, looking for recommendations big time on this one
For head studs I'm curious about what people have heard about the InlinePRO M-Series, still open to suggestions
Gaskets and whatnot are simple enough, I'll just go with cometic, been running their stuff for years

Since there's more than likely debris in the engine, will I more than likely need a new oil pump? What other things should I look for?

Any and all help greatly appreciated.

Damn, homie, I will never accuse you of not driving the car hard enough. You’ve managed to kill the entire drivetrain in this car!

Good on you for keeping a stiff upper lip!

Depends what you want out of the build.
4piston makes good stuff

So you blew out your transmission and the motor in 60k? I'm going to guess the transmission blowout damaged the engine?

While you have it out, why not get oversized pistons, have the head ported and put a mild performance camshaft in. Send the block to a local machine shop to have the pistons fitted while the head is sent out getting a mild port. The idea is to shift power into the higher rpm range where the engine won't beat itself to death.

The trans was my own fault. 100% I own that. Long story short: I was unaware the trans cooler used trans fluid. The blue trans fluid made me think I was draining coolant and I stupidly didn’t bother to look into it any further even though I knew it was weird.
As far as I know this didn’t impact the motor in any way. I beat the dog piss out of this car through and through. It sees redline every time I drive it.

Did you have a 10th Gen si before? I feel like I've seen you around.

You should take it apart first before making a parts list. You need to see the full extent of the damage and work from there.

I'd recommend considering a good used engine as a starting place. Spun bearings may have damaged the block, crank, oil pump and sent metal to the cam journals. You'll find out soon enough.
4 stroke OHC motorcycles are excellent training for car engines (how I started). The biggest issue on mods will be getting parts that play well together.

I really wanna know how you were "beating" the car since I've seen so many people drive tuned for thousands and thousands of miles. Would also help since identifying the problem in what went wrong will keep it from happening again.

Highly doubt 400ish hp and aggressive redline driving is the issue since I'm sure many people do worse on track on the regular. No knock (haha) towards you but it's befuddling to me since these engines are generally pretty bulletproof.

A lot of people have shared the same sentiment. Full disclosure, I'm not 100% sure what happened. I'm looking into contacting Honda to see about maybe getting the motor good willed/ getting some form of compensation. My opinion is the tune. I was running a Phearable tune. I rented a dyno and had them remote tune the car in December of 2025. My mods were basic: Intake, inlet pipe, charge pipe, intercooler, HKS SSQV, and an exhaust.

I know theres some back and forth discussion on whether BOVs are bad for the car, but the only time the car could be running rich is between shifts as thats when it'd expect air from a recirc valve.

My opinion (and the shared opinion of a few guys more acquainted with the platform) is that this car should NOT have been making that much power on those mods and I was essentially running a kill tune.

As of now I am in NO way placing sole blame on Phearable, many many people have had great experiences with this company and before any kind of inspection it would be unfair to place any blame anyways. All of that is why, as of now, I am personally accepting full responsibility for the situation I'm in.

I have decided on the shortblock I'll be runing: 4Piston's K20C1 just looks like too good of an option to pass up. I am still on the hunt for a good top end setup. Might decide to just run the stock top end.

Fully prepared to machine the block. I have experience with motorcycle engines, grew up racing them, so fixing them is part of the game. I'll know more upon disassembly.
