I believe this was covered in the CAD tread, the tax and customs would make it completely undoable from a member who took a look to see.

It would push the car into levels of 100K USDM

I tried to buy a brand new car in the US. I called the dealership in Plattsburgh because it’s not far for me and they told me without a US residence and a US drivers license they cannot sell me the car because it’s considered exploitation

That’s interesting. My Honda dealership with my CTR deposit mentioned that they get calls from the US for cars every month. Seems to be for the Si, but didn’t mention if he sold any to them.

Our experience with these dealers is consistent. I have talked with Olathe. Apparently the first 2 they received were purchased by employees and the third one that they currently have in transit is already sold to someone who had it reserved, but they don't do wait lists.

Jay Wolfe, who I have purchased a new Honda from, told me they would give me a special local/customer discount of a $15k ADM instead of their normal $20k. That car has been sitting at their dealer for a few months.

Other dealers in KC are no better. Either high ADMs or no wait-list process that would provide any assured path to get one. That on top of the fact that KC hardly gets any allocation. In all my years here I have only seen 2 driving around... both FK8s. I guess going to another city is the only option. How much is it to ship a car from Miami?

I live in Kansas City and purchased my BB from a dealer in Alabama ($2,500 markup). Picked it up last month. I had purchased a Honda from both Tiffany Springs and Jay Wolfe in the past - did not matter to them. Good luck.

Acura dealer in Kansas City is selling an Integra Type S for sticker. In May they were asking 5k over and I told them I was not interested. I had a CTR on order as well and ended up with a BB last month for 2k over. Acura dealer emailed me this morning saying they were down to sticker plus $650 in options.

Alabama - a friend owns a business in Alabama and has purchased 10-12 cars from one dealership. He got their first FL5 for $2k over and I got their second one. I don't believe they have received their third one yet but based on what they told me when I picked mine up last month when they do get their next one they will be trying to sell it for 10-15 over.

How does one reserve a car if they don't do waitlists? They are inconsistent IME, and this is what I mean by that. I "reserved" their "first" FL5 a long time ago (according to them). Then they sell their first two to employees, which was never communicated to me. Now they have sold their third to someone else who has it reserved, despite not taking reservations/deposits/waitlists. I reach out to them and they don't respond to emails. And this is the supposed best Honda dealer in KC. Doesn't say much for buying a Honda around here.

Unfortunately, you are no longer buying a Honda when you’re buying a type R. You’re buying an extremely limited performance car. I NEARLY walked away over the dealerships and getting fed a BS sandwich.

Does anybody know how long it takes a car from the shipping yard to reach a destination after saying it’s in transit? Asking from California to Seattle. Only asking cuz I’m going to be outta country on Friday to end of the month and would hope it gets here before then?

That is loaded question.

1. It can stay at the loading yard until the needed amount of cars is needed before loading on to the next phase.
2. The truck or train taking your car to SEA can vary with time and days.
3. Until you have a lock down date of when it is coming to you, It will vary.

I was in a similar situation when I got mine, but I only started to track days after the car is listed as "On-site" on https://www.motoringobsession.com/stock/civic-type-r. Asked my salesman and he said it's still on its way and sent me a tracker screenshot. Around 4 days later they told me it's been PDI'd and ready for pickup. From that screenshot it also looked like it came from Cali.
