Now that I've had my car just under a month, figured it was about time for me to formally introduce myself/the car to the forum. Very long story short, I sold my 2021 BMW M340i in November of 2021 back to the BMW dealership I had leased it from. Reason I did this was because I was starting a business (that I've since closed down) and wanted to save some money on a car payment. I regret getting rid of the car, as it was the perfect daily driver and I had ended up scoring it for nearly $10k under MSRP right at the beginning of COVID when dealers couldn't find people to buy cars. Made about $5k on it when I sold it back due to the nature of the market, which was nice, but still sucked getting rid of it. Drove some older, used vehicles for the next year or so but once I decided to close down the business and work my day job full time, we had some extra money and so I decided to start searching for my next daily driver.
After lots of back and forth, I settled on a new Civic Si. As a longtime BMW enthusiast, this actually wouldn't be my first foray into Honda. I've own several, including my first new car purchase, a 2007 Civic Si sedan in Galaxy Grey Metallic:
I also leased a 2018 Accord Sport in Still Night Pearl for a short while before leasing the M340i:
Due to the scarcity of this specific color (the only color I was interested in) and the markups many dealers were charging, I had to shop around quite a bit and call MANY dealerships. The Honda dealer near me was marking up the Si $10k. And as I'm sure many of you know, many dealers were marking up the Si either $5k or $10, which I refused to pay.
After a few weeks (in mid-November), I ended up finding a dealership in PA who was only marking up the vehicle $3500, and was expecting an Aegean Blue Si in mid-December. It ended up arriving on 12/12/22...photos from my salesman:
Fast forward a bit and as luck would have it, I was SUPPOSED to fly out 12/20/22 to drive the car back home, but ended up getting COVID just 4 days prior. And to say it kicked my ass would be an understatement. I was bedridden for basically 3 days. So we (my buddy with the E93 M3 tagged along for the road trip) pushed back our flight to 12/27/22.
Rather than drive straight through from PA to MA, we wanted to make a bit of a road trip out of it, so I had made a list of restaurants and breweries along our route to stop at. This was a cool spot with a great name, Bolero Snort in NJ:
To recap the trip, I woke up at 3am on the 27th of December, and pulled into my driveway at around 9:30pm that night with the car. LONG day, but well worth it. And scored just under 39mpg, to boot.
Had some unseasonably warm days at the end of last week, so I took the time to get the car dialed in and protected for winter:
So the engine bay on the Si was a bit too naked for me. I added these plastic surrounds, as well as the boy racer engine cover (still not sure how I feel about this):
BEFORE
AFTER
I've also upgraded the license plate lights, trunk light and rear blinkers to the LASFIT LED bulbs. And still have the RedLine Tuning hood shocks to install, as well as an eBay gloss black front lip. Not sure I love it, but it was so cheap, I figured it was worth a shot. Worst case, I remove it and try something else.
Cheers!
