5W-30 for AZ summers. Can't tell when that is anymore because the temps keep jumping back and forth every week. Engine seems to run quiter though.

this is for the Si, but i believe the Japanese manual specs say you can run 5w-30Running 5w30. If it is recommended for EU Type R's and the CAFE standards are what prompted the 0w20 US recommendation, well that's enough reason for me to run 5w30.
Opps, thanks for clarification. Non observant Type R owner here.this is for the Si, but i believe the Japanese manual specs say you can run 5w-30
what aftermarket turbo is that?I am currently running 5W-30, but that’s because my aftermarket turbo calls for it. Plus, in my earlier Blackstone Laboratories tests, they said it wouldn’t hurt to try 5W-30.
R660 by RV6.what aftermarket turbo is that?
the UK manual only says 0w-20You'll find 5W-30 is fine per the European owners manual. Search Honda UK to find it. Engine internals are the same, regardless of location.
Only reason 0W-20 is spec'd here is for CAFE fuel economy. 5W-30 provides a superior film thickness, especially for high loads, which these engines are capable of.
