Congrats on the future kiddo. Patty Peck Honda isn't that far from you and they have a SGP CTR at MSRP + ~$400 is dealer add-ons. I only passed because I want blue.

thank you! I’ll reach out tomorrow to them! About 11 hour return drive and a pit stop in New Orleans wouldn’t be bad. Lol

His math wasn’t adding up.

$46,000 MSRP + $3,200 tax + tag $300 = $49,500 plus $2,000 mark up would be $51,500… I asked him so $52k OTD?(I even rounded up) And he said no, plus $800 dealer fee. Which would put it closer to $53,000 which is a $3,500 mark up.

I would rather spend $1,000-$1,500 by flying somewhere and vacationing for a few days, then drive back the CTR while still saving $2,000-$2,500 over buying here.

yes, I’m ready to buy. I was only dragging my feet recently because I thought the $30k I had set aside for the CTR was going to have to go towards IVF but God is good! 🙌🏼
Your math is inaccurate papi

Selling price: MSRP+$1995 = $48340
At 7% tax rate: (48340 x 1.07) = $51,723.80
Dealer Doc Fee: $799
Tag and License Fee: $448($150 if you’re transferring a tag you already have)
FL Doc Stamp : $195
Electronic Filing Fee: $132
State mandated fees(Lemon Law, FL TIRE & battery, etc): $51

That adds up to: $51723+$799+$448+$195+$132+$51 = $53,349 OTD

I can tell you right now, if you show up at my dealership ready to drive an in stock FL5 out of the showroom, they are not going to let you walk over $1349. 🤷🏾‍♂️

I remember you months ago saying $5k ADM would be around $55k OTD and now that it was $2k ADM I thought that meant $52k OTD.

Appreciate the run down, I was kinda rounding the numbers and missed a few. I’ll come swing by closer to the end of the month.

$1995 mark up + $140 tax on the mark up + $799 = just under $3,000 add on to the MSRP.

No problem, just had to clarify, don’t forget when I first sent you numbers originally we were still using the 2023 MSRP which was also less than it is now for the 2024 model.

N.B. We only have a BB in stock atm, we get 3 CW next month though

As an ITS owner who long wanted a CTR before the DE5 came out:
  1. The interior is nicer --especially in back. Whether it's worth paying for or not is another question. It is not on the level of a $50k luxury car; it is a $50k performance car with luxury amenities.
  2. I also find the black interior wanting (some like it because it's simple and less likely to show dirt, etc.) The two tone options look far better, imo - especially red.
  3. The FL5 dash / speedo is much more special. Acura mailed in the ITS dash; it's a copy / paste with a needle recolor. Huge miss.
  4. That said, the HUD is awesome -- I actually rarely look at the dash (shift based on engine note and speed is on the windshield), and having tire pressures available to judge temps, etc. is convenient.
  5. The FL5 seats are better, imo, for the driver. Any passengers will likely feel otherwise. Whether that matters or not depends on your situation.
  6. I think Honda really missed an opportunity with the damper tunings on both cars. DE5 Comfort / DE5 Sport + / FL5 +R would have been perfect. I always use Sport + unless there's a passenger in back, then it's Comfort. The Sport setting is useless, and a more hardcore setting for perfect roads would be nice.
  7. Performance-wise, the ITS makes a fair bit more power (see dyno comps). The lack of sound insulation and the stiffer damping may make the FL5 feel more frenetic. If you're going to tune, that's irrelevant, as the mechanical bits are identical.
  8. ITS exhaust is much better (irrelevant if you're going after market -- in which case saving $ on the FL5 to put towards a catback makes sense), and, to me, the equal size tips look better than the offset ones on the CTR.
  9. Looks are subjective, follow you heart 🤣
  10. They are making approx. the same # of ea. car for North America. 2023 NA allocations for the FL5 were ~3,400; ITS production was ~1,800 (but didn't start until May). Long-term, I'd expect similar totals, maybe a couple more FL5s, d/t the one year head start, and I wouldn't be surprised if Acura cuts the ITS before Honda the Type-R.
  11. Aftermarket support for exterior / interior bits is better for the FL5, as there are substantially more FL5s worldwide and in many markets.

If you are patient, both cars are available at MSRP. Additionally, there's no reason to settle for an ITS color combo you don't like. You can get this car in whatever "spec" you want (originally, I thought I wanted white, but the car's angles, etc. don't wear it well, imo; it really needs the darker hues to shine -- blue, red, black, etc.).

You can't go wrong either way! Pick the one you want, be patient, etc. Don't settle because something was convenient; you'll regret it later.

Any thread with an ITS in the title on this board hits 2 pages instantaneously. When there really isn't all that much to talk about.

1st of all, no one should ever buy a car they don't want. /thread, TBH. You clearly don't like the car, WHY the f would you spend actual money on it?

2nd of all, this whole "didn't feel fast" thing isn't going to get better with the CTR. I'm wondering if you don't really want a CTR.

Wait until you can afford an RS3, that's probably the car you really want.

No manual in the RS3 or I would have jumped.

Go to Holman Honda in ft Lauderdale, they have good allocation of fl5 and they are able to negotiate for msrp, but be firm in the negotiation process, my sales guy Nelson is pretty much straight forward no bs.

Good luck.

I wouldn't have even looked in the FL5/DE5 direction if the RS3 was available in manual. But the funny part is, I vastly prefer the driving dynamics of the DE5, after having owned one for a while. RS3 is still fast AF though, no denying that. And sounds incredible to boot.

CTxV Blackwing then? If number of doors aren't a concern, Supra or M2 would definitely be the way to go...

Objectively, if the OP thinks the DE5 is "slow" then he will still think the CTR is "slow", even with the seats and the wing.

Subjectively, I think the OP is seeking validation for paying an ADM, and all the folks who paid ADMs are quick to give it to him.

I like the white, still think the black and grey edge them out.

I also had a 300+ pound passenger in the ITS. The 2021 type r I test drove had a small 140 pound old guy, intake, catback, intercooler, hondata and cheaper tires because it roasted 2nd gear and 3rd. Plus I liked the seats better in the type r.

if I wanted a “fast fast” car I would trade in my truck and just get a new M3. The RS3 is amazing, it’s just so small!!!

like I said, the FL5 would be for autocross and Sebring Raceway and the weekend. I have the truck as a daily

The bolt-ons / tune will have made a huge difference relative to stock.

If you already have a daily and are looking for a purely weekend / track car, I would look elsewhere, honestly.

This is a great platform, and I am very happy owning one, but it's great because it gives you sports car feels with daily convenience and versatility. It's certainly trackable, but there are better options for a track platform if you don't need 4 doors.

Absolutely, 100% this. I love my ITS because it's a true do-it-all car. It is my daily, and my track car, and it does both equally well (despite not having the CTR seats, if you can believe it).

Not that it is a terrible option, but I don't see the point in mandating a sedan if you don't have that extra requirement. A90 Supra is the first place I'd look, assuming the car had to be new. It's like, categorically better than the FL5 especially if power is something you enjoy.

But honestly, as a dedicated track/weekender? I'd look used. E36, any Porsche, ZL1, GT350, M2, Coyote-swapped Fox Body 🤡, the list goes on. Better value, less stress about tracking a new car, no warranty to worry about for modifications... whatever, I've said my piece.

Now if I can get people to stop piling on to trash the DE5... :confused1:

edit- I just noticed the reference to the bolt on and tune. WTF? It has nothing to do with the fat guy sitting next to you and everything to do with that...

And an RS3 is "too small" but an FL5 isn't?

What's going on with this board lately... also my attention to detail is terrible. I think it's been ABPDE5 pointing obvious things out that I miss twice in the last couple days.
