This is interesting....

So a typical oil change for the stock FL5 Type R is Capacity with Filter: 5.7 quarts (5.4L)

I've confirmed this also.

So you need a 6 quarts for an oil change. So 11 bottles 1 quart each, you are going to not going to fill properly to the fill line an oil change. You actually need 12 quarts for two proper oil changes.

Am I correct?

Haha looks like you're right, they should've had 12 in there, not 11

I think part of this stems from the variance in recommendations for oil capacity. It varies from 5.4 to 5.7 qts for whatever reason. To be honest, I thought it was 5.7 qts; it's clearly stated as 5.7qts in the manual, but in my experience, the past few oil changes, 5.7 is a little overfull in my car, and I try to get all I can out of it. Ideally, 12 qts would just easily solve this concern, as you guys stated.

Slight overfilling above the dipstick top fill line is recommended especially when racing, and was confirmed by my dealership. It can actually go to the red line. Thats 5.7 quarts on an oil change with filter.

I put in six after letting all of the oil drain, in my 24 fl5 right before trading it in for my 26 fl5 and it was right below the top line on the stick. Maybe they didn't let it all drain. It takes awhile to all drain.

I believe that's to prevent oil pressure from dropping on hard cornering. Which can also be fixed by running 5w-30 (which most who track are already doing).

As a sidenote, it a dealership tells me something I'm more inclined to not believe them. A lot of those guys just parrot whatever you tell them or blatantly lie when they dont know 🤣

Agreed most dealers are terrible. But the largest Honda dealers usually have the senior master tech - and have them only touch my car. They know. Had a dealer in Dallas near Highland park, break the oil filter seal, under fill, and somehow fck up also not screwing in under tray, I was scarping the tray when I got to Austin. They fcked up three things - all three on an oil change. In California, I had one guy only touch my car, and when I moved to Dallas, took me 3 dealers to find the right one. Now only the master tech touches my car in Frisco Honda. They are excellent. Filling to that top line is recommended - confirmed. Don't worry. 5.7quarts every time is what she needs, 6 quarts or more if you have oil coolers or dual oil coolers.

Anybody with a 1.5T here that filled exactly at 3.7 quarts or do you just throw in 4 quarts? Cant imagine .3 more will damage anything.
