Honda won’t give me engine data

My ‘25 CTR was stolen last week and recovered.

It’s at the dealer getting inspected.

I asked them to pull the engine data to see if there was a mechanical over rev. They said Honda won’t let them!

I called American Honda and got the same answer.

I want to know how the engine was treated in the 1/2 day the thieves had the car before I sign off on the insurance claim.

Any other options? Could an aftermarket tuner in my area do it?

Why wouldn't they want to check for an over-rev? They check for it with warranty, I don't expect this is any different in terms of making sure the engine/trans is damaged

Did some research and looks like the car stores a code if there is an over rev. The dealer said they can pull codes so maybe I don’t need all the engine data.

Still, they should give it to customers.

The engines are basically bullet proof. Wouldn't worry about the over rev. Sorry to hear about the theft.

You'll get a P0219 Engine Overspeed Condition code stored if a proper over rev occurs. And that doesn't necessarily mean the engine has sustained actual damage.

The engines are basically bullet proof. Wouldn't worry about the over rev. Sorry to hear about the theft.

Can confirm that they are bullet proof. Over revved mine to 8477 and have had two oil analysis done since, both perfect

That being said, just because it can handle it doesn’t mean I would want to have it done by someone else to my vehicle

I would absolutely get that checked before signing off OP. I over revved my car, that’s different than someone else beating on your vehicle.

That's F'd up it was stolen. Just curious of how wondering if there's some preventive measures one could do? I'm new to current Type R's

Dealer is finished working on the car.

They did pull the codes. There was a P0219 engine code for an ‘over speed’. Car was revved to 7667 rpm and driven at 129mph.

It’s passed a visual inspection and been test driven and the tech says engine and transmission functioning normally. No strange noises.

Did it throw a code (P0219)? If so, has the dealer detected it. Could be used to deny a warranty claim?

Yes it threw a code. The dealer is who gave me the exact RPM of the over rev, I was honest with them on what happened.

Ultimately just replaced bearings and did a couple oil analysis.

Warranty is almost assuredly gone but I didn’t specifically ask, don’t really care at this point. The car will be tuned before the warranty was up anyway
