Private equity buying things rarely means something good for consumers.

I counter that with the notion that cars, the purchase of and modification to, is emotional. Take one look at how and why people modify their cars and you'll immediately see that it's based off how they feel and what they want, not need. If the audience you cater to does things emotionally, then you need to be able to relate to that. Business is business, but when there's zero passion in the business it shows. Great example is the car channel 'Donut' and what happened after they were sold to private equity.
Yes, not everyone wakes up loving what they do, but that's a consequence of their choices and the cards they where given - but that has nothing to do with cars, and I'm talking about how this is bad for the community and cars. Hondata had no reason to sell to EPT, and in no way is it a business decision to sell to private equity when it means you leave the business in the process.
I can't hope to know why you think the way you do, but I hope you can find a reason to not make money the point of life.![]()
I think you're missing the point. It's not the fact that I think a certain way, it's simply the fact I acknowledge simple facts when you apparently don't.You might want to think a little more critically about your statement. LOL. “ making money is literally the meaning of life”![]()
He was.Hopefully Doug is retained.
It's not like they had a choice. It was part of the ~$6million agreement they paid to the government. People talk like COBB had some choice in the matter.Remember when Cobb had good software that was free to use after you purchased an AP? Then they locked it behind an “emissions” course you had to pay for and removed many of the features? I do.

Good luck thinking you can live off smiles and vibes. I sincerely hope you can figure it out.
yea but have you seen his 3,000 dollar suit? Come on!Your insight is so great.

You didn't acknowledge the points I brought up. Exiting a business is not a business move. And business doesn't have to be purely by the numbers, quality and treating customers properly brings them in too.I think you're missing the point. It's not the fact that I think a certain way, it's simply the fact I acknowledge simple facts when you apparently don't.

I disagree. There is a philosophical divergence in business that you can either bean count your market position by leverage and numbers, or focus on good product and customer service where it adds value for customers and earn market position. The former doesn't care about the customer, sales patterns at volume are loyal to brand recognition, price, and ease. PE rarely creates market defining products that customers love, they care about finding a formula that produces marginal value for the lowest investment, 500x it to extract profit and win by market share. Hondata has been making etuning much simpler over the years and has set themselves up to grow volume, but CARB and EPA are wildcards that probably could use more nuanced touch. PE can still ruin it, we will see. The tuners and end users will decide. This is such a naive statement. BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. Passion has no real place in business. At all.
If you're one of the lucky few who does something for a living you're passionate about, congratulations. Otherwise, making money is literally the meaning of life. If you haven't figured that out yet, I don't know whether to praise you or feel sorry for you.
No one. NO ONE. Works for free.
They definitely didn't have to lock parts of the software behind pay walls. There's plenty of choice in that matter. It's not like they had a choice. It was part of the ~$6million agreement they paid to the government. People talk like COBB had some choice in the matter.
My recollection of the matter is that when dealing with government agencies on settlements, if you don't show good faith, they can and will end you. They definitely didn't have to lock parts of the software behind pay walls. There's plenty of choice in that matter.
True, at least it's a business decision unlike selling the business altogetherbut surviving is a good business decision.
This is a wild statement lowkey lolThis is such a naive statement. BUSINESS IS BUSINESS. Passion has no real place in business. At all.
