Hi all
Newb question here. But how do you remove these tabs without breaking them?
I'm trying to install fender guards on the FL5. Figured i ask before I break two more tabs. I used flat head. I've used 2 flat heads. Broke both tabs on the driver side already.
Thanks in advance

Just pop out the middle (in red below) and the entire tab should pop out easily. You can use a thin flathead or use trim removal tools like these.

My car was brand new and two of the four still broke. This is even after using a small bit of spray lubricant on them and two very small flathead screwdrivers, to help in popping up the center button.
If your car has been driven in the rain at all, the road grime that migrates in pretty much guarantees that these rivets will break. Just go to a dealership as the parts department always has them in stock.

That's what I did. They break before popping out.
The fender ones are notorious for breaking even if you're careful. What works best we've seen is dont try to do it in one motion. Little by little with very light pressure and they should scooch out.

Does anyone know what's the part number for these push rivets? Thanks.

I broke nearly half of these removing fender liners to install sound deadening, and I used the specialty tools.
Fortunately I recently purchased a 99 piece fastener assortment from ebay (less than $12), which has 20 of the pictured fasteners.

I don’t, yet when I was at the parts counter asking for a quantity of two, the Gentleman asked if they were the large or small ones? I didn’t know but he said there were only two sizes of these rivets.

Pictured fasteners are 8mm (small). Most fasteners on the liners are this size. Front fender liners also have 3 or 4 10mm (large) fasteners to attach under bumper cover.

after breaking two of them using the pin remover tool I had at home (the one the looks like a forked snake tongue), I filed a screw driver tip to make it thinner, and used it very gently, moving it from one side of the clip to the other side till it popped out.

but I am going to get the Harbor Freight Tools pin plier today...

Clips are different sizes:

91505-TR0-003 (Common area: #16 Inner fender clips MSRP $3.97 each)
91505-TM8-003 (Common area: #17 Bumper clips MSRP $0.57 each)
91512-SX0-003 (Common area: #18 Inner fender clips MSRP $2.97 each)

For removal, I tried many different tools. The best option that I found without breaking the top of the clip is to use stereo removal tools (commonly found in trim removal kits). Slide one on each side of the clip to provide tension and gently twist one side to pop the clip open for easy removal.
