Actually my Mishimoto tank arrives tomorrow. The installation looks pretty straight forward.
Added mine and it is a straight forward install. The only challenge I had was fully re-inserting the lower hose that required some patience.

I don't know how you guys have the patience to take the time and energy to think and write out five things you like and dislike. Too tedious for me. ; )

Five more!

+

Lack of piano black anywhere in the interior. Thank god.

Crystal clear mirrors. Not a hint of vibration in any of the three.

The ability to change each of the Individual mode settings on the fly. No need to come to a stop. Can feel the differences immediately, in real time.

The configurability of the digital gauges. Love that I can ditch all the info on the two side displays, leaving only the cool yellow needles. Then, when I'm in the mood, the separate +R display is gorgeous.

The very meaningful, noticeable difference between Comfort, Sport, and +R. The steering feel is very different between them. The suspension behavior is clearly different. In so many other cars there is no major difference between the drive modes, but with the Type R it really is like having three different driving experiences, and with Individual mode you have the additional benefit of combining the best of each mode. Brilliant.

-

Minimal storage space up front. Small armest cubby, no additional cubbies. No sunglasses holder, even though it's there on the Type S.

Rear seats should match the front seats, as they do on the Type S.

Excessive road noise.

No lumbar control.

Digital, somewhat disconnected, sterile feeling from the powertrain, compared to the much more analog, visceral, engaging sound and feel of the ND2 Miata's shifter, NA motor, and overall sensory experience. Similar difference to the 911 Turbo S and GT3. The Turbo S is more powerful and faster, but the lighter GT3 with the 9K redline NA motor is more fun, and more satisfying.

+ My First sports car! Drives great! I've only ever owned manuals, but none quite like this.
+ Decent fuel economy for a fast car. A good compromise.
+ 4 big doors and 4 big seats. Enough space for 4 grown folks. No unecessary "hump" seat.
+ Nice big trunk, open hatch space, and fold down seats for proper cargo capacity when needed.
+ Styling. Looks very elegant and almost Euro. The Type R has finally reached adulthood, but with a wing for its mullet to show it still knows how to have a good time.
Business in the front... party in the back!

Gripes:

- Price of Entry. I thought I was buying a Type R , not a GT-R. Pretty sure the dealers are still confused about that, too.
- Tiny gas tank. As much as the Civic has grown up, I thought it would have brought some fuel capacity along with it. A 14 gallon minimum would be a nice common courtesy.
- Weak stereo system. It sure don't SOUND like it has 10 speakers in there. I think they forgot to connect the ones in the doors.
- Poor visibility. This is a Honda Civic. There is absoulutely zero reason I should need to use a reverse camera to back up my car.
With the way it is built, though: low driving position + low mirrors + high door windows and rear windshield lines, I can't see over doors or the trunk, so for the first and only time in my 5'10" life, I have to use a reverse camera. It's embarrasing.
- To further hinder visibility, the rear view mirror cannot be adjusted up close to the ceiling, because some sorta electronic doohickey is in the way at the top of the windshield. What even is that, and why is it THERE? Sattelite antenna? WiFi? Whatever it is, it should NOT be in the center of the windshield taking up precious driver visibility.
- Further hindering visibility... further, is the rear winshield wiper and bigass plastic shroud right at the bottom center of the windscreen, you know, where you kinda need to see directly behind you? It ain't the wiper so much as it is the shroud. Makes for a big ole lump of plastic right where CLEAR glass should be. The low rearview mirror coupled with that high plastic shroud is a wicked combination. It was completely preventable, too. I'm baffled as to how it all even went down like this.
- Wheels are too big and tires are too small. This has a direct impact on physical comfort and thus driver state of mind. I get that this car is built for the track, but it should also be built for the road. The stiff suspension and rubber band tires really give the car a good rattle at anything over about 50 MPH. I can't wait to get wheels and tires that have proper room for a bit of air.
- Electronic doohickeys all in my face.
The instrument cluster, which should be analog anyway, is loaded with bells, whistles, and bloatware that seem more starved for attention than a hungry pack of helicopter moms, constantly tugging at my every sensory perceptor, telling me how safe they are keeping me, all the while only serving to distract me... from safe driving.
- The FOB-only entry.
- The push button start. Yes I know, it's probably just me.
- The push button parking brake that REQUIRES a foot on the regular brake in order Engage OR Disengage! Why?!?!? I just want my manual parking brake!
- The tiny glove box and center "Devil Horns" šŸ¤˜šŸ‘æ console, NEITHER of which can be locked with a key.
- Hell, I can't seem to find any place on the car that actually takes a real key.

Aaannnd...
not in the car, but related to the purchase:
- Now I get monthly email AND real junk mail from Sirius XM, to whom I have never spoken, nor ever authorized to know my name or anything about me. Freakin slimeballs. I hope they go away when my "Free Trial" that I never asked for nor bothered trying to activate.
Am I buying a car or renting a radio service?

Whoops, I think I may have reached my Five Dislikes limit.

I am going to address the elephant in the room.

Likes:
Seats - Easily the best comfort / holding balance
Pedals, steering and gearbox - This car makes you feel a better driver than you are. Intuition connected to you as a driver.
Engine - It continues to push no matter how fast you are
Looks and size - I use it as family daily, I think only something like an m3 wagon can beat it.
Cruise control - lane keeping and adaptive speed control as factory standard let's you relax cruising

Dislikes:
FUEL TANK IS TINY
THE REVERSE CAMERA IS A JOKE
NVH built quality - crack noises, my window resonates when driving with it halfway down....
No rear air vents or usb C - zero care for kids at the back from Honda
Sound - Doesn't match the character, as said above.

I've always been surprised that the ITS had the more aggressive exhaust compared to the CTR, same for the fake engine noises and horsepower number being slightly higher.

I know the actual reasons for the difference are that Acura is pretty much only a north American brand, so less restrictions for sound, but the fake engine noises make no sense anyways. You'd think the more "mature" option would be more subtle in sound, not more sporty.

Likes:
1) Seats! Looked at the Acura Type-S because wife wanted some creature comforts, but the seats in the Acura sucked.
2) Usability. Someone else said it. Track it then haul groceries.
3) Comfort. I love having comfort mode when I’m chilling. Many other sport cars have one personality. I like this one has three or four.
4) So much fun! I love rowing through the gears on a straightaway or just carving corners in the mountains.
5) ā€œSomeā€ of the bells and whistles. I love the new dash layout..particularly in R-mode. I also like I can customize and mix and match engine/stiffness settings. I’ve not done It, but I like that I can.

Dislikesā€
1) Small gas tank. On track day it’s a trip to the gas station after every two sessions.
2) Red carpets and the blue to red contrast. It’s jarring. Who thought red carpets was a good idea in a car? Like putting white carpet in your mud room. I know someone else said they loved it but it makes me feel like a toddler with primary crayons colored my car.
3) Noise. I know they did it for weight, and I can fix it (and I am), but a little more deadening would have been nice. FYI. Adding deadening helps the stereo a ton…but you knew that.
4) Styling. Looks a little boring compared to my FK8, but it’s growing on me. Almost didn’t buy one because it looked too much like every other Accord/Civic on the road to the average person. In the end I buy the car for me, and I decided I could live with it. Which is funny, because I almost didn’t buy the FK8 because it was too loud. After I got it, I didn’t care, and after a while I came to love it.
5) Expense. $50k Civic is crazy. That and the insurance compared to my FK8 is 3 times more!!

Don’t disagree. Not a fan of the push/pull button for parking brake. BUT
You do know if you put your seatbelt on, you don’t have to disengage the brake at all, right? That’s the only thing that keeps me sane.

Like:
  • Looks good inside and out
  • Seats are amazing
  • Confidence inspiring handling
  • Road noise is present but a big upgrade from my previous cars
  • Custom drive modes
Dislike:
  • No cap-less gas tank
  • Aluminum shift knob is impossible to live with in the summer. Had to switch to the OE leather one

  • Cup holders in door are nearly unusable
  • My coolant reservoir broke lol
If you disable nav, everything gets way faster.

What I like:
- It’s aesthetically pleasing.
- Fun to drive, handles well, and has a good amount of power.
- I like the interior (or what’s left of mine at least lol).
- I like having the different modes (Comfort, Sport, Individual, +R).
- It’s roomy.

What I would change:
- I wish the front seats had black as an option to match the rear, or an option for all black interior. (I do love red though.)
- I wish we could change the DRL bulbs, I don’t like headlight overlays and would like them yellow.
- It would be nice to be able to roll the rear windows all the way down.
- Heated seats would be ā€œcoolā€.
- The price šŸ˜†.
