Android auto would take forever to connect if I left the car with my phone or if I turned bluetooth on after starting the car. Got rid of my last major gripe with the car

I never noticed how laggy the stock CarPlay was until I did the update, amazingly responsive.
Almost feels like it's predicting what I'm going to do lol it's crazy how responsive it is now.

I noticed that some new 2025 Honda's have a new graphical interface on what appears to be still the the same infotainment hardware.

Apparently those use Google Maps as the default GPS (and not Google Maps from Android Auto/CarPlay, a built-in one replacing the Honda GPS the Type R currently has, including Type R 2025). The button have a more sleeker colored look and the quick action buttons moved from the bottom to the side.

I'd be curious if this would be a future update for the Type R 🤔

** I can confirm the 2025 Type R still has the same older UI / Version as the 2023-2024 models but 2025 non-Type R Civics get the update.

They likely didn't give the FL5 the new radio because LogR is coded for our current radio.

Just got a new one today.

Saw this as well and ran it when I got home. I’ve noticed lately that CarPlay will disconnect/struggle when opening some media apps like Tidal, so maybe this remedies it. The release notes focused on stability while using CarPlay/AA

Got the same update moving the car around this afternoon. I'll get a bit of seat time to see what's new tomorrow. Do they (Honda) not provide change log?

I don’t believe there’s a public set of release notes outside of the bulletin points found in the head unit. Maybe internally accessible by techs but nothing public facing

Reported on the screen after installing the update:

Thanks for this. Since the update, I haven't noticed anything major performance wise. It seems to be to be just as smooth in switching menus and opening apps as before.

Curious, does anyone know what chipset the headunit runs on?

Same here. I didn’t see a way to force an update check so my guess is it’s a rolling update they are pushing

Not at home now but if enter developer mode you might be able to check. One of the videos on how to disable in the built in nav talks about how to do it. Made a huge difference to me on CarPlay performance by disabling it

I'll take another look next time I'm in the car. I have the navigation disabled, did that as soon as I saw the artifacts on screen while on Car Play. It was a huge jump on performance afterwards. Curious if I re-enable the Navi, if the performance will remain the same.
