Dammit. I just did the paperwork on a new 2026 FL5 at a Honda dealership in Avondale yesterday ($5K over, plus another $2K in stupid dealer add on stuff). It was too late in the day for my bank to wire the funds over, so they're going to do it on Monday. Should I cancel it, or would that be a dick move?
Hope you were able to cancel. NO ONE should be paying over MSRP for a '26 right now. In fact, you should be able to get a deal UNDER MSRP for them. Time is on your side. The longer a '26 sits on the lot, the less desirable it becomes.

Good luck!

I went ahead and bought it, since I had already put it in my sig, and I'm too lazy to change it. Seriously though, 2026 is the last year for Rally Red, and that's the color I wanted. Besides, it's still half the price of anything else that was on my short list :)

Life's short. If it helps, it's better than the 10 over I paid in 2022 for my Rally Red. Certainly spent much more than on mods since then.

69k miles later with no regrets. (Last years winter setup)

10k over in 22 is like 5k over on a 2026 without all that much improvement over the years...just MSRP increases. Plus, you get to enjoy the car for all those years! So, it isn't that bad if you look at it that way.

Yes, they are.

Specs below
Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4
265/35/19
20mm Spacers square
RSR-BEST I Active Coilovers
-2.0° of camber all around.

Rubbed a bit at the ride height in the picture. Particularly on large compression incidents. Move the fronts to -2.5° of camber to get rid of the rubbing.

I actually have the same tires on my Spoon 19x.9.5 45ET wheels. I actually don't have a picture of it oddly enough but I'll add it tomorrow.

Spot on with that perspective. Especially with how chaotic my career field is (mil), waiting around for the perfect price, when I could be deployed or taking a sudden dirt nap didn't match up with my goals. Plus it was always red or bust for me.

I've been fortunate enough to enjoy the car from New England, to the DMV, Eastern NC, tail of the dragon, all the great roads of SoCal, some in Texas, OKC, and Louisiana area too.

Misc. pictures from the journey so far.
Mod list no one asked for too.

We just started going to dealers today making contacts for a 2027 Type R. We inherited a free Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid and getting rid of it ASAP so we'll finally have enough extra money.

Since no one has a 2027 quite yet we checked what they're currently doing on a 2026 to get ideas of how they're selling them.

Ocean Honda in Ventura - no markup but they put in what is supposedly a $2000 aftermarket steering wheel. $1700 for Splash Guards, Wheels Locks, and a trunk tray. $999 for an aftermarket shift knob. $55,150 total price.

DCH Honda Oxnard - $5000 markup and $1495 KARR auto security and GPS. $57,330

Thousand Oaks Honda - $1400 protection package on top of regular MSRP.

We'll see what happens when the 2027 start rolling in. We told the sales people we won't be buying anything with any additional things thrown on and 2 of those dealers (not DCH) said they'd work with us.

Can't believed they're still doing crazy markup on leftover 2026! I paid $49.5k (before tax & fees) for mine back in May of last year - that was with a $2k markup with no required add-on. I felt like I got ripped to shreds, but glad I'd pulled the trigger on it after seeing these crazy prices even til this day made feel a bit better on my decision. I was so frustrated after dealing with 30+ dealers and was about to throw in the towel on the FL5.

FYI - I love to see those "Splash Guards" that they have on the car? I don't believed there's anything for the FL5 officially from Honda?

Yeah, DCH Oxnard has a bad rep with the other dealers nearby. One of the salesman saw me take a pic and shake my head in disgust and didn't bother trying to talk to me. LOL

So far the other 2 dealers seem to want to help. Hopefully the 27 starts showing up soon. :)

It's not that hard to believe, demand is still outpacing supply even with inventory sitting. In the grand scheme of things, the $2k markup you paid is nothing. The cost to run these things coupled with how well they hold their value renders the markup inconsequential over the life of ownership.

Not advocating for paying markups but various justifications can easily be made when it applies to these cars.

In retrospective, that $2k wasn't as bad as it was in my head since I have never paid MSRP for any car, let alone over. But paying over 50K for a civic when it's all said and done is still a hard pill to swallow even if it's a TypeR!

That's one way to look at it. Another way is if one had put that $10k in an index fund in 2022, it would be worth $18k today and continues to grow.

For me personally, I always have one fun car or another, so delaying purchase of another fun car due to ADM is never a total loss.

Another thing about ADM is when there are enough people willing to pay 3k over, dealers will ask for 5k over; when they are enough people willing to pay 5k over, they will ask for 8k over... on and on. It's a race to the bottom for the consumers.

Not trying to be argumentative - just offering another perspective :)
