Who here has their R as an everyday driver?

Usually been driving my 2023 on my days off, but my truck might have finally layed down on me and the R might be my only ride for a while.
Main thing I worry about is damage of course, the summer tires, and the lack of a spare.
One flat and I'm dead in the water.
I 've rarely been without access to two or even three cars in my life, so I'm kind of making plans to make the Type R amore daily friendly car.

I do. It is an excellent DD. I have the integra ADS module and comfort mode is pretty good.

I would get a PPF on it though, the paint chips easily with rocks.

it is an endless source of joy, even in traffic it is a fun car to drive, and if needed can actually haul a lot. it feels like it was made to be a DD...

I daily drove my type R for around a year, through winter. My commute is on state highways and not the interstate, so significantly better on the clutch usage compared to stop and go traffic. Your mileage may vary if your commute is like that. The winter was sketchy occasionally (mostly snow banks), but with a good set of winter tires you'll never have problems.

The only thing that sucks for me long term is the seats and the bouncy suspension. The paint also easily chips, which made me get ppf.

I daily my 2025 FL5 for 100 miles round trip Monday thru Friday plus on pace for 6 track days this year. Just hit 30,000 miles and have been tuned with a downpipe since 2,000 miles.

18 inch rims and the Integra Type S module make a huge difference for daily driving comfort.

It's a front wheel drive, 4 cylinder, HONDA CIVIC Type R. It's not a Lamborghini Type R.... drive the car and enjoy it. Don't save it for the next owner. Life is to short.

I daily mine and couldn't agree more with what you've said. I had daily a "rarer" and more special and fun car than the FL5 for more than 14 years before the FL5. So, the FL5 is nothing much "special" to me other than that it's an extremely fun car to drive. Only reason I replace my previous car with the FL5 was for the rear doors and seats. I just use it like a normal car. Heck, I don't even have any PPF on it.

The stock suspension is super stiff, the integra type s module just makes it smoother.

For example if you hit a bump/pot hole:

- Type R module: gun shot sound that jolts the whole car

- Type S module: thud that vibrates the car

The bigger side wall of the tires on 18 inch rims also help with this and the road noise.

100%! The 4 doors and mid to high 20s in miles per gallon are huge. Plus, like you said, super fun to drive!

Seeing beat on FK8s owned by young kids hitting 200,000 miles made it a no brainer to daily the FL5.

Yes, it's very easy to install. Bunch of YouTube vids on it too. You unscrew and unplug the standard one and put in the new one. Takes around 5-10 minutes.

You can get a FK8LE spare kit if you're willing to sacrifice some trunk space. Or if your insurance covers a tow, flat bed it home and put the spare on there until you get to a shop. Would not recommend the fix a flat kit that comes with the FL5.

I daily mine for now. I work from home and only put maybe 5k miles on a year. Looking for a beater for when I have to go out in the snow, but even the biggest clunker these days is thousands of dollars.
