Rydanz R23 / Shibata / Shiba Tires

I was finally able to try these tires at buttonwillow last weekend and can confirm they are fantastic for the price. They feel very similar to Nankang CRS v2's without the dramatic drop off when they get hot. It's only been one track day for me so I can't speak to how well they wear/how long they last, but friends who have been running these on a GR86 say they've been impressed with their durability so far also.
If you have a place to source them, they're worth a try.

They come in 3 compounds - but the red sticker is the one you want / red = 200tw equivalent (They also come in a 220TW and 280TW compound)
Let's be realistic though - RE71RS/RZ is still the king, and A052 still beats the R23... but at under $950 for a set, I'll take R23 over V730s and RT660+ any day of the week.
I got them in 265/35/18 since 275/35/18 was out of stock
I also told my local distributor that 285/30/18 would be a popular size for Civic Type Rs

Where'd you get them from? I wanted to try them out before settling on RT615k+

"For competition use only"? Are these not DOT approved?

DOT mandates steel belt nylon caps for example, which is a good thing. I've seen recalls on other Chinese tires for not meeting DOT standards.

I understand track tires may not be the best on the street, especially in cold weather.

Yeah I think these need to be evaluated strictly through a track-focused lens, where life expectancy is measured in seasons (well, except for you California people- every season is track season).

I wouldn't buy any 200-ish TW tire for strictly street use.

Good to know though. I think I'm addicted to how good the RZ are, but you can literally get two sets of these for the same price. If they're comped against the CRSv2, that's good company.
