I have had this happen to me a few times when I didn't have the seat belt fastened. For example, got back into my car to readjust the car's position after I parked it. Didn't release the parking brake and tried to move the car. It didn't move because I hadn't released the e-brake. Not a problem. Car is fine. I also tried moving forward with the e-brake on WHILE my seat belt was fastened and the e-brake released automatically once I started to move forward.

Your car is fine.
another thing, i found out the e-brake will engage at 50 mph and lock up the wheels....had a brain fart and hit the wrong switch  luckily i immediately disengaged it within a fraction of a second

reviving this thread because maybe I'm a spaz, not sure.

this same thing happened again, but this time I wasn't driving.

The car was being moved in a parking lot, the guy was going to back up into a spot. I saw the rear suspension lift a few inches. I was like that's weird. Then it went back down and the guy realized the parking brake was still on. It was the end of the day and everyone was tired.

I did not hear any revs, although when you start the car, the idle is kind of high.

either way, this got me thinking, could this cause suspension damage? or damage to the axles? I never seen the suspension move like that, I know it was under load. Kinda scared me.

I drove the car home and it seemed fine.

Of course I started googling when I got home and came across this guy with a challenger, he did the same thing in his driveway and ended up breaking the rear suspension!!!

Is there anything I should lookout for? Don't have many miles on the car so not totally in tune with it. I'm starting to have more fun with the car, but that also means I'm discovering the quirks, noises, and vibrations it has.

Seriously. It’s totally fine. Keep in mind that the clutch is a wear item. Even if you burned the hell out of it, it is replaceable. Enjoy your car and don’t worry about it a second more.

Also, no. It is extremely unlikely any damage was done by “the guy” (what guy? lol!) who was moving the car. If something broke, you would know. You would’ve seen it, heard it, noticed some definite problems when driving it. Higher idle at startup is normal. Have you not noticed this before?

Clutch damage is incredibly obvious. I've only ever driven 2 manuals in my life, but I could easily tell which one had more wear on it (cough cough, not mine).

Like TypeRD said, it's a wear item. Drive the car, continue to be anal about other people driving your car or touching it (I still am), and don't sweat the rest 😛

Thanks guys for bringing me closer to sanity LOL.

@TypeRD this was the owner of the shop my car was at. He was moving a couple of cars at that time when I went to pick it up. Just got tints and a ceramic maintenence wash. Been going to this place since I bought the car.

This time I wasn't concerned much about the clutch, but mainly the suspension and axles. Since I saw the rear end lift up a few inches, so the suspension/drivetrain was definitely under load. Looked like an off road Type R for a couple seconds...LOL. Never seen the suspension travel like that.

also yep, regarding the idle, I was just mentioning that it was high at the time when he tried backing up. Since it usually hovers around 1500 rpm when you start it.

@Cueyo agreed! I gotta keep enjoying like you guys are saying.

Honestly, I kinda wish I would have arrived to the shop a few mins later. That way I would have never seen it LOL and I wouldn't be wasting everyones time about my issues haha.

Suspension is fine brother and if anything it just means your clutch is normal and strong

This. And keep in mind that these cars don’t have the torque nor weight of a Hemi Challenger/Charger let alone a Hellcat Redeye. While it’s good to be aware of anecdotal internet info, keep in mind the context isn’t apples to apples whatsoever. Be logical. It’ll save you a ton of unnecessary worry.

You know this is similar to what happens when hill assist or auto brake hold is on right? You would have to be doin something pretty hardcore to do damage like cause damage like that, and you SHOULD know in that scenario.

Thanks everyone for the reassurance and advice 🙏

I took the car out this past Sunday and all seems fine 🙂

I totally hear you and agree. I came from the same thought process in that it has more torque and RWD with different strength in the components, even different quality. But then my mind kept going and said, if it can happen....then maybe there's a chance. And thats why I ended up reviving this thread 😞 sorry!

Agreed! Yep, its similar. Main difference is that the parking brake does not release at all, since the drivers seat belt was not on.

If you have the seat belt on, it will release automatically once it senses you are trying to move with the brake on.

Like this clip lol.

Thanks again to everyone that chimed in. Glad to know im not the only one that's had some unlucky moments with this electronic brake!!
