Is there any concensus on whether vented spalsh guards are actually effective at reducing coolant temps? PLM has theirs on sale for $250 plus an additional 5% off today, so I'm thinking about pulling the trigger.

My oil temp was lower by 10 degrees between my last 2 days when I installed the plate on day 2. The ambient temperature was different and it fluctuated through the day so to get an accurate testing is impossible

Understood. Thanks for the feedback. Did you notice any difference in coolant temps, or just oil?

Yes but its hard to say indefinitely because I was alot faster my 3rd day and the temperature was colder.

I'd honestly get one because the OEM undertray is such a flimsy POS. I only had 2 screws left in mine when I went to install the cooling plate.

Wild weekend at MSR Houston last week. I managed to capture some gnarly footage of track debris ending my weekend early at MSRH. Right after the outlap of a session, my windshield shattered from debris kicked up on the track. I consider myself lucky it didn't pierce the windshield or slam into my front bumper.

Despite ending early, I was able to run 2 laps without traffic:

My opinion on the Airtec because it's in a location that is likely to result in a catastrophic failure in the event of an off-track excursion. It sits below the body line. Even the G8X BMWs which run a floor flush-mounted oil cooler run into failures in that location.

The HEL is just first to market -- it's not hyper sophisticated -- but I also haven't seen a ton of data that says it doesn't work.

I'm waiting on PWR to wrap up their solution, as it was tested in conjunction with their entire cooling suite.
I'm not sure if I posted here or not, but I've been talking with pwr for a while and I became a dealer with them recently. They have helped me to find a core that is going to work with my dual oil cooler concept. My goal is to offer a package that 1. Performs the best (temps and minimal pressure drop). 2. Doesn't sit in front of the radiator reducing it's efficiency. 3. Uses the best components. 4. Maintains full OEM functionality and appearance. 5. Does not require cutting of the bumper.

I believe the kit I'm working on is going to achieve all of these things. The pictures at the end of this post give an example of what we're working on, but they aren't the final version, only what I feel comfortable sharing at the moment, my current design is more sophisticated.

My engineer is hopeful to have the design ready to print this week. Once it's ready I will in fact get a prototype printed to test fit and then test run at the track to confirm everything is working as intended. My car is currently at the shop from being rear ended a couple weeks back. I'm hopeful to have the car back in a week or 2 and then I will take it to the track to get some data on everything.

Assuming all these steps are successful then it should be ready to fully release and be for sale!

Also it's worth mentioning that I am developing a transmission cooler kit using a PWR core as well, and it will not sit in front of the radiator either. I have some things cooking on the radiator front as well but I'll share more when the time is right.

My criticisms of the PLM concept are that it's been advertised as being as thin as OEM (or more recently double OEM thickness) so it's still going to be flimsy, and given that it's a flat plain they still have to cut a hole to accommodate the front pipe.

The HPT design is 4 times as thick as OEM and it's very rigid. Comes with upgraded hardware (nickel plated m6 bolts and washers for all locations, with threaded clips to hold them in place). The HPT concept has elevated mounting locations to accommodate the front pipe and allow for the vents to be unobstructed by the need for a front pipe cutout. We have the massive front vent right under the downpipe which is the main vent to pull a ton of hot air from the bay. I sincerely believe this is the best of the 2 concepts.

Track testing from a few users has shown a consistent 10° improvement, some saying as much as 15°, but like was noted it's a little tricky to get exact numbers as ambient temps change from session to session.

I have HPT cooling plates available to ship out if anyone is wanting? $350 shipped within the US. You can message me on here to set up an order.

Its on the list of future purchases, 10 degrees is pretty damn good, hell anything is good and get something more beefy and above all with better hardware

I can confirm this as well. Mine has held up extremely well, the bokts have remained in place and stayed tightened unlike the OEM undertray which has had the plastic pins vanish. I have noticed roughly a ~10 degree difference as well but I cant say for sure because I didn't do back to back testing.

Only thing I'd say that would need to be adjusted is that on the instructions I believe it says that the bolts need to be torqued down to 8 ftlbs? Thats too much and it should be 5ftlbs I have an electronic torque wrench and actually stripped one of the bolts from using 8ftlbs.

I appreciate the feedback, thank you. I'll make that change in the install instructions as I also need to update one of the steps (I got HPT to include larger washers, so there is no longer a need to reuse the OEM black clips on the front 2 locations).
