Acuity shifter. FL5. Running without the boot ?

So that's the question.
Any downside to running the Acuity shifter in an FL5 and just not fitting the boot ?

Eh, not much of one. It lets dust get in there but I don't think that has ever proven to be an issue. Many owners do enjoy showing off their aftermarket shifter!

I just did this...with a new one planned in a few days. You could drop things in there or the dust issue.... Cabin noise is the same. The click of the collar to knob is gone...so it got quieter actually. It also looks great. Allowed a longer rod (Acuity)...

The "new" one will be a mesh ti custom unit....more holes in the "solid" area that is left so you can see more. I do think there is room for a Lotus Emira/Singer type side view option if it could be made to look nice...

This guy on Reddit did something different with his Acuity shifter.
I have a Hybrid Racing shifter with a boot delete on my Sport. I wanted a black plastic boot delete plate. I got mine from IG. The FL5 plate has a smaller opening, so specify your model.

I used foam packaging from a shift knob to partially cover the linkage and block stuff from falling in. Photo below is not mine.

I have the Skunk2 knob. I rotated the shifter rod to align the shift pattern.

OMG, that's 5 head! Im looking for a new knob and I want to ditch the locking nut, i didnt even think about this lol.
