Searching for some wise counsel on how to install a CTEK battery tender. In particular, there are some conflicting views on whether you should connect the negative eyelet to the chassis as opposed to the negative terminal on the battery. Is there a definitive view on what the best approach is? thanks in advance.

I do it on the chasis just because with how the battery terminals are on my Mustang its easier that way

Reading around, it seems that connecting the negative to the chassis is indeed the better/safer way to go. If the battery is removed from the vehicle, that’s when you want to use the negative battery terminal. Thanks for bringing this up. Learned something new.

I have always hooked them up to the terminals in my cars and never had a problem. What is the advantage of using the chassis?

Safer = Less chance of sparks at or near the battery
