Clutch helper spring delete

This is for the FL5 owners, which is why I posted in the FL5 sub-forum. Don't try this if you have an Si unless you want to be a guinea pig like me. Your clutch is different.

Thank you for sharing your data-backed experience in such detail. I read up on this a lot last night and watched your related video, and I think I’ll be the guinea pig with my Integra A-Spec 6MT this weekend, seeing as no one seems to have tried it on their Si or at least posted about it anywhere. I’ll report back for my Si/A-Spec folks and we’ll know once and for all. Worst case I take out the clutch pedal assembly and put it back in… I love tinkering with my car anyway ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I took the helper spring out, knowing that I am taking a risk that I will not be able to easily put it back.

I really like the clutch feel without it.

Coming from FA5, I always felt that the clutch on the FL5 was too mushy and lacking feeling.

I can definitely notice a bit more effort, still seem softer/easier than the FA5, and feels more "natural"

Can confirm this works for our cars as well! Just pulled the helper spring in my Integra A-Spec last night, the two sides were pretty simple but I fought with the center notch for a solid half hour… really gotta push in the right direction else you’ll just rotate the spring, plus it was a struggle working down there and keeping the area lit without knocking down the light source. Anyway, very much worth it. No more feel than stock, gonna have to delete the clutch delay valve for that (soon!), but pedal pressure is indeed much more linear and feels great. No more artificial engagement halfway through pedal travel, and can confirm the pedal comes all the way back up without issue. Thanks again to OP for sharing! Very worthy free mod for all K20 and L15 6MT’s

I'm asking you to argue a conditional hypothetical in support of your subjective opinion that clutch pedals feel better when they're less linear. I didn't insinuate that you ever said that a heavier helper spring would be better, what I'm saying is that if less linear clutch pedals feel subjectively better to you than more linear ones, then it follows that a heavier helper spring than stock would make the clutch pedal feel subjectively better than stock by decreasing the linearity.... unless you have some argument to the contrary that somehow doesn't contradict your previous statements?

some people like the stock clutch pedal feel and you like it with the deleted spring. not sure why this has to be a debate. it's personal preference.

I love the way it is already. don't want to f with it. considering it's hard to put back in, I don't think i will participate in this experiment. I can barely fit my head under there anyway.

Just FYI, for my FL5, after releasing the two sides, I was feeling around the center and the spring just fell out, kinda surprised me.
