As much as I would like to mod my R to make it more 'me' I agree that stock or tuned power is enough for the street. There are not a lot of opportunities for me to go full throttle and explore the limits without incurring the wrath of the authorities. I wouldn't mind doing the exhaust and intake for sound, and adding flex fuel for the cooling benefits of E85. Tracking my R is not an option quite yet, possibly next year.

This is correct and I say that as a guy with a turbo to install.

Is there a more premium option you'd recommend? Preferably one without an oiled filter
Beyond PRL Carbon Fiber the only more premium option I may could recommend for someone that is performance minded is Gruppe M / Blitz. However please note it will require custom tuning.

I have had the Gruppe M intake installed for over 3k miles without a tune and experienced no issues at all. Granted a tune would be ideal but I would not say that it is required.

That said, I do recall another forum member posting about an issue after installing the Gruppe M intake. They mentioned that the MAF scaling was off resulting in idle issues. I never experienced that and assumed that they likely did not apply the liquid gasket properly to seal around the MAF sensor.

Wow someone with honesty.

I have personally found running Hondata CANFlex at E30 to be enough for my use case.

Does anyone have any good test data to share on an FL5 running an E30 blend on the stock turbo? I’m interested in seeing how far the factory fuel system can take it.

Give me a month or so...I am heading to IMW next week for an ECU clone and unlock. After that, on the install list is a PTP shielded TSP downpipe and Hondata CANFlex kit. Then hitting up Jester for a tune using the OEM turbo and fuel system.

Just make sure you get it on the dyno somewhere afterwards (if you want data to share). If you want really good data, you could also dyno test before tuning and modifications. (for comparison)

If the car was local, sure! But I don't think he'd be up for the trip if he is anywhere close to IMW.

I currently have the TSP downpipe/tune and just got a Kuro turbo. What minimum supporting mods are a must-have to leverage the turbo? I'm assuming a larger intercooloer?

I do not plan to do any sort of fuel line upgrade.

Intake with secondary inlet (PRL recommended), downpipe upgrade, and an intercooler upgrade.

Things like charge pipes, inlet pipe, front pipe, ”catback” exhaust upgrades are all nice to have but not really necessary.

As far as fueling goes, I think it depends on the tuner. I’ve seen some tuners say that the regular Kuro will be plenty safe to run without bigger injectors/HPFP, but surely not to its full potential. Other tuners are not comfortable tuning it on the stock fuel system.
If I end up upgrading my turbo, the Kuro will be my choice. It seems to be the perfect unit for the K20C if you’re not shooting for the moon.
