The +38 57DR 18x9.5 will be a direct fit but we would recommend sizing down to a 255/35/18 unless you plan to get some camber adjustment, then a 265/35/18 would suffice. When you slightly lower these cars, the rears will naturally camber in either way, affording you outward clearance for a 265/35/18. I would say a +35 offset is pushing it, we do not recommend it.

It is also worth noting that we test-fitted 18x10 +~41 with a 265/35/18 Falken tire. The 18x10 +~41 comes out ~10mm more outward compared to the 18x9.5 +45 (which is flush). This means the 18x10 +41 pokes a bit and definitely requires fender work on the outside to mitigate or reduce the chances of rubbing. On the inside, the 18x10 +~41 loses about ~2-3mm of inner barrel clearance and this actually becomes an issue at full compression/full lock and will rub the fender lines more than the 18x9.5 +45, which seems to be the happy medium. An 18x10 +~40 will gain about ~1mm of inward clearance and should be a bit better, but on the outer edge it is still ~11mm more outward compared to the 18x9.5 +45.

At the end of the day, we are finding that the tolerable sizing window falls between +~43 to +45 offset for a 9.5 inch wide wheel with no issues, up to a 265/35/18. There is no need to go up to an 18x10 or 19x10 if you plan on running a 265 tire. A 275 would definitely rub the outward fenders, if not rub the inside, as you are effectively losing ~6mm of inward and outward clearance compared to a conventional 18x9.5 wide wheel. At 18x9.5, you are able to run a 265/35/18 or 265/40/18, 255/35/18, or even a 255/40/18 tire without issue. Those who wish to "fill out" the wheel well more should go with a 265/40/18 or a 255/40/18 tire with a larger sidewall.

All of this info will be actively updated on our FL5 Wheel fitment blog for users to see and reference when going the aftermarket wheel route on their new 11th Gen CTR.

Will the following wheels work for the FL5? These will be winter daily's... street use only, no track.

https://www.wheelership.com/18-x-8-...21-2022-factory-oem-wheel-grey-rim-95082.html

18x8 et 45 mated to 235/40R18 tires

I ran calcs at the following:

https://www.wheel-size.com/calc/?wh...40-18X8ET45&fcl=50mm&wcl=30mm&scl=50mm&sr=0mm

Also, Tire Rack says the equivalent fitment for their offerings work for the FK8.

Will there be enough brake clearance?

If no, please recommend a Honda part number that does.

Thank you.

Nice! I would also be very curious.

Dream Works Automotive FL5 civic Type R w/ 15mm spacers, which makes this effectively 9.5 +45 offset. Dropped on 1" prototype FK8 springs. This continues to reaffirm the fact that 9.5 +~45 seems to be the golden size when it comes to this new gen Civic Type R. Fitment is flush and does not rub. Plenty of inside clearance as well with the factory fender liner at full lock + suspension.

Black (CBP) FK8 Civic Type R,
Here's some more documentation and proven data from one of our partners / clients, thus reaffirming the fact that 9.5 +45 offset seems to be the golden spec for this car.

Fitment is spot on, does not rub, and clears the suspension + fenders without issue. Stock factory suspension and plenty more room to go in the event one does want to upgrade to lowering springs or coilovers.

This FL5 Civic Type R belongs to our client Mendie (@FL5_type_r_pham). First FL5 Civic Type R equipped with Rays Volk TE37SL #systemspec. Once this car is lowered, it will look even better. More photos to come!

As shown:
  • TE37SL 18x9.5 +45 5x120 (System Motorsports Spec) - FK8 + FL5 Civic Type R compatible
  • Concave Face (not flat face). Shares the same mold as the highly-coveted TE37 OG.
  • Classic TE37 mold, available in select limited finishes. We can discuss this via PM/Email/Phone but we do not want to detail the purpose of this thread, which is dedicated to fitment and data.
  • Brembo Brake clearance
  • Suspension clearance
  • Fender clearance. No rubbing and no trimming/fender pulling/fender work involved
  • Tires as shown: 265/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S
  • 100% bolt-on affair!
  • Note: Will also fit a 255/35/18, 265/40/18, or 265/40/18 tire.
  • Users will need aftermarket Tuner Style lugnuts for added security (Project Kics, Rays, Monster, Muteki are all reputable brands that are compatible with this #systemspec Volk TE37SL fitment. Most FK8 owners who already possess this spec TE37SL will find that their sets will translate over easily to the new FL5 Civic Type R platform.
  • Hub size: 72.6. 72.6 to 64.1 hubrings can be utilized to make these hubcentric.
  • Note: More concave than the TE37 Saga / Saga S-Plus / Saga SL models. The TE37SL in 18x9.5 +45 is the most concave out of the bunch in this exclusive and limited size. The go-to!

There may even be room for a 275 tire (proceed at your own discretion). We are finding that a 265/35 or 265/40 is more than sufficient for those who plan to street-drive. As showcased in the photos and from the rear + front view, this is as flush as the wheels can get. A +38 offset would poke ~7mm more outwards and would thus introduce fender rubbing/fouling, which would require permanent modification to mitigate/reduce the chances of rubbing. One does not want to go with such an aggressive width/low offset as you would risk slicing the tire on the quarter panel/fender/bumper tab with too aggressive of a fitment. Adjustable suspension + camber plates would afford one more clearance down the road, but for the vast majority of enthusiasts who plan to modify the car, we highly recommend sticking to the 18x9.5 +45 TE37SL sizing.

More photos updated to the blog. Over the weekend, 18x9.5 + 18x10 were fitted + more data points entered. 18x10 ~40 to ~41 offset requires approx ~-3 degrees of static camber to clear the fenders w/ 265/35/18 tires.

I'd love to see an 18x10 +52 with a 285/30 tire as a track setup for the FL5.

Looking to get a set of Enkei Lusso's in 18x8 +40 with 235 40 R18 for winter tires. Any insight on the size of the calipers for the FL5? I'm a bit worried about brake/caliper clearance but have seen other people manage 18x8 wheels with +40 to +35 offsets. Am I just gonna have to pray and hope they work?

UPDATED 11/18 with weight

Just received these Volk‘s today! Thanks System Motorsports.

TE37SL Pressed Graphite, 9.5“ 18” diameter 45 offset. Wheel weight = 17.5lb
Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS 255/40/R18 = 29lb

Now Honda just needs to get this dam FL5 delivery problem to the East Coast fixed so I can get my Sonic Grey CTR delivered :banghead:

Added ceramic coating. Plenty of time for it to cure while the wait for the car continues.

ADDED 4/23 MORE WHEEL/TIRE WEIGHTS FOR REFERENCE:
- Factory wheel and tire = 53lb
- Volk TE37SL plus Bridgestone RE71RS 270/35/R18 = 46.5lb

We can't wait to see it! Glad they arrived safely and so quickly.

What ETA did your dealership give you? Some of our East Coast guys are slowly taking deliveries right now.
