Opinions on PRL HVI filter

Exactly, 100% agree! I think the PRL HVI flows so well because the filter is so thin.

When I cleaned the PRL filter there didn't seem to be much dirt and inlet was dusty.

Now when I clean the AEM filter there is a lot of dirt and the inlet has no dust.

I did notice a very slight sound/power reduction when I switched to the AEM filter because it is so much thicker/filtrates better.

Is the sound/power with AEM filter on the HVI still better than stock intake despite being less than with the HVI with PRL filter?

I had a PRL HVI V2 on my 2.0 Accord for a while. That thing didn't filter worth a crap, just like other oiled K&N style filters. After 10k miles there was a layer of dirt/dust inside my inlet tube when I went to service the filter. Got rid of the thing and got a dry flow filter. This is the trade off for more flow, doesn't matter what the brand is. If it flows more air for the same given surface area, that means it doesn't filter as well, plain and simple. Whether the difference in filtration makes a difference for you depends on your environment and your personal standards of what is acceptable filtering/performance. Living in a desert like I do, I would not run an oiled filter. This is why my intake is stock on the Type R and will stay that way until I sell my house and get out of this hell hole. Even then, I would only run a dry filter as I much prefer the added filtration over the 2hp I would be giving up to run a higher flowing oiled filter. Just my .02.

Yessir, just get them. The PRL intake spool and bov noises are amazing.

Aftermarket intakes filter quite a bit worse than the oem intake. I'm running the AEM dry flow because various forum members have gotten very bored and are obsessing over small stuff like this but one huge down side is the intake noises are much quieter which sucks.
