Upon discussion with some m8s someone brought upon that eventually they (they meaning all spyware new cars any make/model) will be notified tcu or similar spyware is disconnected and insurance can/will go up. What anyone make of this. Mine has been out the car for months now insurance price seems the same.
side note - phone is not connecting wifi/bluetooth now as well. I tried erasing/forgetting and reconnecting. No dice. Back to using a cable, I usually use for dash cam but good thing there are 2 ports.
Is Bluetooth part of the TCU? I am quite liking my wireless Android Auto. I won't pull TCU if it loses my wireless AA.

I removed the TCU long time ago

I was still able to connect Apple CarPlay wirelessly

However, Apple CarPlay kept disconnecting randomly, sometimes it would re-connect, sometimes it would not

CarPlay uses a combination of Bluetooth and WiFi. Bluetooth does not have enough speed/bandwidth. Bluetooth is only used to discover and set up the peer to peer WiFi connection, and the WiFi connection does all the heavy lifting.

I now have it configured to wired USB only (my iPhone is mounted next to the center display)

No more disconnects.

and it enables me to have two apps running: one on the center display, the other on the iPhone

Here you go

I like this a lot, wish I knew before I got my cheap $7 mount from Amazon.

on the other hand, I got used to the position of mine, very easy to reach with my hand while driving...

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D45W64BB

Rock solid steady, easy to reach and view. uses double sided tape to hold it onto the dash, so no permanent modification. note that I got just the base, and used the holder I used in my 07 FA5 Si

Since I used the phone to take the pictures, I could not shoot it with the phone inside, I also left the arms wide open. with the phone in, it ever so slightly blocks the buttons on the center display with the phone in the holder and arms closed

Starting with MY27 all cars will have government mandated spyware type systems, in the guise of preventing drunk driving. Unfortunately it allows government access to a lot of data they might not otherwise have and don't necessarily need.
And yes insurance companies want to know if the MY27+ system is disconnected, if for no other reason than to raise rates. I'm not sure they'll have access, but they'll try.
That is very concerning. Any links WRT to the MY27 government mandated spyware upgrades across all manufacturers? Does it also apply across all trim levels?

Thanks and hell no to all of that shit. I was thinking about trading in my MY24 CTR for a MY27 CTR later this year for a different color (either Red or Black). If the MY27 introduces any of that new crap, it would be a definite hard pass.

There will be ways to fool it I'm sure but as long as the hardware is in the vehicle, they can always update software..
i dont wanna sound too much like a crazy person, but there have been quite a few junk yards burnt down and with the dwindling supply of parts to repair old vehicles. i dont see the government or the car companies playing nice - they are already trying to remove right to repair to force people to go to the dealer for repairs. Dealers in general and the big 3 are in big trouble again.
