New to thus forum. Ive been waiting since late 2021 for the market to straighten out. So many of my generation's Japanese great cars were making a comeback. However, inventory was a mess across the board. So, I've been waiting. Even in late 2021, when the dealer only got the on SH A Spec RDX, I still paid MSRP and no additional upsells.

Fast forward to this week, and I checked out the Acura Type S at my local (Ft Walton Beach FL) Acura dealer and they had a $14,000 mark up on it. They would drop a few thousand at best but I wasn't going to waste my time.

I then went to a local-ish Honda dealer in Pensacola and found a Championship White 2025 CTR.

Then the reality hit. Offered me right around what I know my vehicle is worth on trade in. Fair, however....

Dealer markup 6846.00. Pro Pack (tint, mats, and some sort of paint and interior protectant)1998.00. Then they pushed for Platinum Plus package 4yr/60K at 1362.00 and finally Honda care at 1982.00. Was advised will not budge on markup as it is the one vehicle they are allowed to mark up.

I could likely get the care packages dropped and at least reduce the price of the Pro Pack, but I'm not willing to pay the mark up just because they can.

47145 00
6846.00
1998.00
1362.00
1982.00
2908.18. (Tax and other fees)

62,241.18 real price.

I'd love to get into a fun to drive car with a manual and still have usable space but this feels egregious. I keep reading on sites or seeing on YouTube how folks are getting at MSRP.

I will broaden my search area but feel a bit weird possibly buying a car without seeing it in person. I'd also have to arrange to sell my own car as it is to be my down payment.

I bought my first car in 1992 (Dad cosigned for me) and have never experienced this level of upcharging. Worst I've dealt with in the past is not budging on MSRP for certain cars, but today's marker. Oof.

Just keep searching, maybe a little outside of your normal radius. There are msrp deals to be had, especially on the “common” colors like CW, BB and SGP. Red and black might be a different story.

I am from Texas, originally from Ohio. Put a deposit this past Sunday an CW 2025 Type R. Picked it up Jan 2 and started driving back Jan 3. If you like boost blue, they have these 2 remaining as of Jan 2. They will sell at invoice just like mine. Paid $44,818.73 including title & registration of $35 and $387 doc fee. Everything but sales tax since I'm from Texas. If these are sold, check around with dealers up north. They will sit until Spring in most cases.

I will, thanks. Full disclosure. The salesman countered the following day and lowered the markup to $5846. He indicated it is as low as he can go with it. The other charges were, for the most part, lowered or removed.

I will keep looking. I want CW color which should help a bit.

What I paid on the left versus Honda’s website on the right. Technically, I only paid $43.95 over sticker with title cost. Thought that was a solid deal with LoJack included.

People claim to get these amazing deals but rarely post proof. Here is proof from December 2024.

They have a second one, in Mississippi if you’re willing to drive or ship… PM me

I was too lazy to print out and black out my info. But the dealers name, Ken Ganley Honda in North Olmsted, Ohio is on the bottom. Ask for Dan Crites in sales or Tim Costa a sales manager. Tell them you want the same deal that Dean from Texas got. As of the time I picked UT up on Jan 2, they had 2 boost blue.

For anyone interested, Ken Ganley Honda is open on Sunday. Boost Blue is probably the only color of the 5 I don't like, but considering the price, I think I can get over it if they didn’t have a CW. Those tires definitely suck even on a little snow, but I made it back to Texas on the 4th.

This isn't 2022 or 2023. You shouldn't be entertaining a mark up, not even a slight one. If you're motivated you can pay MSRP or below. Check the inventory tracker and start making calls. The smaller the market, the better. Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I'm in the Houston area and I paid about $1500 more than you did, which I am fine with because I was willing to pay $2k more

QFT; however, this was more the case 1-2 years ago, not so much anymore. If someone says they got a deal at MSRP or below today there's no need to prove it. It's very believable because those types of deals are prevalent and plentiful. At this point if you're paying over sticker it's because you want to.

Yup, you’re right about that. However, MANY people still believe that MSRP deals don’t exist and are “fake news” simply because they do not shop outside their area or even their state. Then they ask to see proof, which is ridiculous, but I understand why @Nikw91 was being proactive about it.

By the time I pay sales tax when I receive my title and TX state inspection, I will be almost $500 over 2025 MSRP of $47,145. At this time last Sunday, I was putting my deposit on my CW. Only downside is having almost 1500 miles from driving it back. For break in, drove about the first 100 miles of city driving then, getting off at every exit and rest stop until I was past 600 miles to simulate changes in load. Expenses were minimal because I was able to stay with friends in Ohio. Expenses were flight to Cleveland and gas, about $500. Not counting food because I need to eat regardless. Will get oil changed soon.

i agree with you. I’m sure people are getting some solid deals now a days. Especially on boost blue ones, they seem to be getting the lowest prices.

But it is nice to see the numbers on actual paper versus just reading about it… and then being able to use that paper as proof/motivation/hope to go out and find a good deal.

yep, SGP and BB definitely garnering the largest discounts. I had a dealer offering 5k off on a SGP that had been sitting, but just not a fan of the color.
