Past build thread on the FK8: The first TYPAAHH

Ok so it's been little over 5 months of picking up a new 2025 FL5 and I sold both my FK8 and 991.1 GT3 to purchase it plus extra cash to be a good family man.

Favorite wheel setup on the fk8: 18x11 315/30/18 18.95 265/35/18 You can check out the build thread link if you want to see past iterations of it.

Never did a build thread on this since well I'm not paying Renlist for a forum membership. But yeah was good while it lasted as I kinda fell out of love with it while my now 3 year old daughter was the #1 priority. Plus I got laid off from my job and money was getting tight. Maybe it was the latter.

Ok so onto the actual car in question:

Dec 2025

The original plan was to just throw on Swifts and spacers and drive it into the sunset. Yeah....I'm stupid in thinking that'll actually be it. But yeah this is it with 20mm and 25mm spacers and lowered on Swift springs.

Within the first 2 months I placed orders for all the jdm parts I wanted so I'd have a steady stream of stupid arriving throughout the year.

Mods started off really lame with just doing interior stuff like matte carbon fiber overlays from Create Carbon. Good stuff but I honestly was never an overlay lover on interior pieces. I think it was the fact my GT3 had factory carbon crap in it and I was just grasping onto the past. Either way the end result made me cave into other stupid mods really quick.

Feb 2026

Wheels arrived a few months earlier than expected. Huge thanks to LMTLS Auto for getting these limited spec Diamond Silver Volk Ze40s in 18x10 +40. I wrapped them in my favorite daily tire Falken Azenis RT660...now in "+" flavor! Also got a great deal from Kamispeed on this Bride Zieg IV Wide Carbon Bucket. It's a bit too wide for me but I couldn't pass up on the price plus the store points earned haha. It did fit the theme of keeping it comfortable but stupid.

March 2026:

Did a replica of the oem Black Edition Alcantara dash and top of the door cards thanks to Sweidit oh also did the A pillars as well. Installed the J's Racing matte carbon fiber steering wheel housing.

DSC00521.webp

Came up with a fun way to display some Leen Custom's pins:
Just cut the rubber backings in a wedge shape and push them into the grill. Perfectly spaced to fit.

DSC00533.webp

Went to Japan in March for 3 weeks and came back with all the small fun stuff. Spoon Rigid Collar front and rear, oil cap, the cute blue sock, and valve cover. While I was away RS-R iBest active coilovers came in and the Carbing overflow tank and titanium strut bar. Oh and I install the Infinite Design intake and turbo inlet in matte carbon finish that I had sitting since January. Also had EPR make a matte carbon version of the cooling plate kit to match and added the Create Carbon fuse box overlay. Chasing J's titanium hardware was added as well in some areas.

CLEiB cf street version lip arrived from MastermindNA I add EVS cf canards soon after as I wanted to see how they'd look combined with the lip...plus I don't have to drill into the bumper yet and just use good ol 3M VHB double sided tape.

Acuity SS went in along with adding my favorite shift knob design of all time from Lonely Driver Company

We're still in March:

Apexi N1-X exhaust came in and I threw that shit on real quick cause the exhaust volume on this car is still just as bad as the fk8.

Oh Mugen window visor on too. I'm just trying to get this up to current month so I can go to bed....

Ballade Sports mirrors finally came in after a 3 month wait. Ordered them painted gloss black. They're plug and play and retain all the oem functions

April 2026:

Art of Attack x Toyo Steel mini tool box. I used the ol' blackmagic "magnet" trick to have it attach to the car. I love building stupid edc kits for my cars and when Angel released this box I knew what I had to do

Current booty. I just love the fact I get to keep running these plates that I came up with back in 2017. As long as Honda keeps producing a Type R here I guess I'll keep transferring the plates. Thanks for checking out my debtmaxing journey thus far.

Plenty more stupid and useless mods for a daily will be posted soon enough. But if you really want to keep up or ask me questions I always post first on my IG: kazuo_wfc

Peace,
Justin
Crap, one thing I never thought about was making a build thread on my car’s upgrades. I guess once my wheels get here i’ll start one. Love your build brother. Keep up the great work and pro pics of your car.

Went out for C&C with some friends and took photos of their cars but this is my thread so suck it friends.

Here's so better detail shots of the J.A.S. Motorsports hood vent and grill. It covers more of the oem hood similar to the Spoon one. But I believe the front of the vent is much taller than both versions.

Swapped out the Acuity shifter rod for a Chasing J's titanium one in their gradient finish. Chasing J's gradation has a certain flavor/ratio I really appreciate. Oh and I also swapped out the shift rod bolt as well for a Chasing J's one. It actually has the brand engraving on that tiny ass bolt as well haha.

Alplus titanium oil cap arrived from Two Step. They had the best pricing I could find but they were waiting on stock for over a month. I think it was worth the wait. Compared to the Spoon one I was running this has a more subtle look to it even though it costs like 4x more. Pay more to look less blingy. I'd like to think it's a balancing act of getting the car looking a certain way without going completely one direction or over the top. I like too many styles is my problem sometimes.

Alright so next few weeks I'm expecting more engine paraphernalia to land so I'm going to mentally plan out what order I want to work on the install.

Hey Big fan, firtst time long time. From where I'm sitting, based on your goals for the car what else would need to be touched in the engine bay?

Silicon hose upgrade?
Upgraded radiator?
More titanium?
Brake master cylinder brace?

I ask because I'm sure most of us would consider your engine bay "complete."

Appreciate the support! To answer your questions I'm heading in the direction of more supporting engine mods until I feel the need to really up the power. I'd want to take it out on the track and see how it compares to my fk8 but I'm not going to lie that the urge to make at 500hp is extremely tempting already.

I am searching for a complete silicone hose kit so the bay doesn't get too many mixture of hose colors haha. Radiator and fmic are on the list when I feel it's necessary. I'm doing a reflash soon with Cobb as I got special pricing on the AP and the rear motor mount (waiting for stock to return).

The Verus brake mc brace looks nice but I'm not 100% sure on adding it yet. If I end up doing shows with this car I'll probably throw it on to add the bling haha.

Custom titanium lugs from Zakgear arrived. These are security lock, open end lugs with floating seats. Really happy with how they came out. These will be going on a different set of wheels which I'm holding off on until I sell my stocks.

I was shocked when Two Step shipped the valve cover in a day after I placed the order. Who canceled theirs?! Anyhow, I wanted to keep it neutral tone as I have a hard time committing to colors/themes. Waiting on one more big prac to arrive before I attempt the install. 😏

One thing I really didn't focus on the fk8 past coilovers and camber adjustment was correcting the geometry from lowering it. This time will be different. Goal is to see if my smooth brain can tell the changes on track and then add power as needed. Honestly having over 400 at the hub on the fk8 on e-blend was great for daily driving....wonder how 500 feels...no no k back to chilling.

That art of attack EDC looks great! Did it include the tools or you just threw those in there?

Followed you on IG, this is looking like an awesome build.
Thank you for the follow! Tools I added. Workpro 34 piece mini ratchet set and adjustable plier wrench, Wuban G5 flashlight and Leatherman Style CS. I used magnets to hold them secure in the case so nothing rattles.

I got the powerflex bushings and compliance bushings for the front lower control arm. Just a warning, with the compliance bushings installed, the front LCA bushings will not work as a complete set. The bolt to secure the front LCA bushings will NOT line up with the subframe. Unless, you know something I don't know....

That definitely sounds strange. Did you let Powerflex know of the issue? I'm waiting on some other parts before I do the install. Going to have my mechanic do the install as I hate working on the front suspension of this chassis haha. But yeah I'll try to document his process when the time comes.

That shift knob is beautiful. Does it get really hot like the OEM one on a hot day? Also which adapter for the threading did you get? I have no idea what thread size we need.. Also which finish is that?
